that would be a cool solution…but the logical and obvious solutions are the ones that never seem to be adopted
Don’t forget there’s always the option to pay at the kiosk if it’s open - you get charged the right amount there & then.
Maybe where you fill up. My ASDA petrol station is 4 pay at pump pumps at the far side of the car park with NO kiosk or shop near the pumps. The supermarket the opposite side of the car park will not take payment for fuel as they can’t see pump readings of litres vended or £ spend.
That’ll trigger the anti fraud measures so they’ll end up with nothing…
The £100 situation is not ideal, but I’d accept it if it then released the hold and debited the correct amount straight away. As it stands it could be several days still?
There’s little excuse for holding onto it for days other than they’ve got away with it for so long… largely because legacy banks don’t tell you the transaction for days so you never notice - unless your balance is low and you suddenly can’t pay for food…
As banks catch up then it’s a practice that’ll hopefully die.
