And both flagged lol

Shame that he’s jumped ship before it could truly become what he foresaw monzo to be.

Monzo has a long way to go to be the hub for all my money.

Well aren’t you a treat.

Can I just say thank you to Tom for being so honest about his reasons for departure. I think we can all fall in to some unhealthy rhetoric when we talk about work and a little more honesty from us all would make things a bit easier.

Good luck in your next adventure Tom! Thank you so much from all of us here!

Absolutely, and Tom’s honesty has already led to some of us sharing our experiences.

I had a really awful time in a previous job. It became very toxic and I realised too late on the effect it was having on me. I ended up having to take 18 months off, put myself back together and started in a different career. I loved it, but then something happened (oops) which took a lot of the fun out of it. So while I wasn’t actively looking to leave, when I saw the job opportunity here I recognised how I was feeling and it pushed me to apply.

It’s very easy to keep slogging away at a job you don’t love or which doesn’t love you!

And it adds to the misery of these situations when everyone else is seemingly having a wonderful time at work and fulfilling their life’s purpose. If we could all be more open about our needs and wants without it impacting on our prospects at work we might be in a better place.

Good luck and best wishes Tom

I can only guess just how difficult it must be to walk away from your baby. Fingers crossed that your successor has as much passion and drive to continue your good work.

Thanks for everything - stay safe and look after yourself !

Cheers,
Daniel.

Good luck Tom, you built a great product and a great bank. As a founder and product manager… I totally understand that the pioneer stage is far more fun and enjoyable to some than the path to profitability. And if that’s his strength… well done for realising and stepping down to do what he loves. It’s always hard letting your baby go… but it’s often the best thing to make it stand on its own two feet.

Well done on your work so far. I hope the subsequent owners will stay true to Monzo core values.

It’s easy to be open and honest when you’re walking away rich enough to never need to work again though…

I don’t think that’s true - for two reasons

  1. I walked away from a successful career, with no money and no job to go to because I was broken, literally broken, from stress and I was really struggling with my mental health. It was hard, and for six months life was really difficult, but ultimately it was the right thing to do and;
  2. People forget that being “rich” on paper, doesn’t always equate to cash in the bank!

All the best Tom! :handshake:

Bye Tom

I don’t know you well enough (in fact hardly at all) to say half of the stuff people have posted on here but I wish you all the best for the future and whatever you have planned.

The @anon91821566 account was hidden or deleted some time ago. If i recall he was getting #mentioned by everyone from fanboys (how do you think i know the account disappeared ages ago?) to bots accusing him of blocking their account and stealing their money… so you can understand why it got deleted.

Welcome back Tom!

Oh yeah so it has :open_mouth:

Welcome typo Tom. Can we have a picture of you holding a loaf of bread as proof it’s you?
