Weight Training

Anyone here use an app to help with weight training?

The background is that I have a slight problem with my shoulder and have been given 7 different exercises to do. The exercises are all of 3 sets of 10 reps per set and a 1 minute rest between sets.

I currently lose track of the number of sets (even though there are only 3) so I move a towel across a worktop to count the sets I’ve done.

It occurred to me that there must be an app for this which would count the sets, have a 1 minute timer for the rest (so a press of a button adds one to the rep count and starts a timer).

Does anyone have any recommendations for an app for weight training?

Full disclosure: the word “weight” above refers to a weight of 0.5kg.

I personally use an app called ‘Hevy’ [on iOS and Android].

You can create your own workouts by adding exercises and setting rest inbetween sets. It will track the weights you use so you can progressively improve session after session although would consult the physio/PT who recommended the program to you.

Would also consider increasing rest time - if the goal is to increase strength in the shoulder I’d personally look at increasing load and decreasing volume while having a larger period of rest between sets [just my preference].

Hope thats helpful!

On Android the app I’ve used for years is Progression.

It’s got a nice UI and features. I like that it isn’t as busy as other weight lifting apps.
