You can. Discourse has an anonymize feature.
None of you (well maaaaaybe one) actually care about your right to be forgotten or anything else, you just want to be as awkward as possible.
I hope Alan does delete you to shut you all up and to be honest in the most part, this place will be a lot better when some of those accounts no longer post.

I will say, I asked for my account to be deleted a few years ago - Iām still waiting lol
Not that Iām really bothered now but goes to show it hasnāt just been a recent thing
The part I find hardest to believe is that theyāre asking for a selfie holding your ID and a piece of paper with todayās date, do you have 3 hands? 
I mean I guess it would be ok with a licence but a passport would be a struggle! But most of all that request sounds like a scam, not something I ever thought a legitimate business would ask for!

This is the number one thing to address in my opinion. You donāt have a community if you foster a culture where this is acceptable. Instead, you have a snarky echo chamber.
Removing DMs or naughty words wonāt fix it. Sustained engagement and listening might.

Iāve not been on this forum that long so I canāt be as blunt as Revels, so Iāll try to be as polite as possible: it is indeed funny that some of those who dismissed my privacy concerns about Discord are eager to have their forum accounts fully deleted due to privacy reasons.

Thereās probably going to be a part of it that they need/want to make sure itās a legitimate request.
āHi. Iām Revels. Please delete my accountā coming from a random email, should they do it? They donāt know my name/details to double-check it. Asking for ID makes it slightly more likely Iām me, would I send the ID if I was actually someone else? Although AI is probably good enough for me to fake one, send that and get someone elses account deleted. What a mess!
Although I wouldnāt be trusting sending the photo etc and asking to be deleted if I had a Monzo account that I wanted to keep! āOoops, pressed the wrong buttonā

How do you ask them to delete your selfie holding your ID, do you need to send another selfie for that?

On a more serious note, I am really curious why to delete your forum account they need to collect more sensitive personal identity information, that theyāve never held before, and in such a strange way, with the added ādate on paperā malarkey, just seems like theyāre trying to make it as difficult as possible. Too many odd hoops so that people just give up.
Especially since they canāt even use it to validate that you own the forum account or anything like that, because they have nothing to match it against. Seems utterly bizarre to me.

I donāt think itās that deep.
Itās probably just the usual miscommunication between teams. They likely donāt realise this is part of the community process and have mistaken it for a request to close your Monzo account.
Thatās what my money is on and is why it has been quiet from the mods. Theyāve replied to other comments since, and completely (and intentionally) skipped responding to this. In the background, I imagine theyāre trying to straighten all this out and get realigned.

Meanwhile if you tell them youāre moving abroad but want to keep your account, they close your account without doing any ID checks!

I want to make sure I address a few of the concerns of account deletion requests.
Weāve taking on the feedback and updated the email address so that any requests are sent directly to a Community dedicated inbox for processing. We donāt need to capture any additional identity information to delete your forum posts and user. Sorry for the confusion there!
