Except when surge pricing is in effect - often worth switching to black cabs when that happens as the price is comparable and they can use the taxi lanes.
I live nr Heathrow and there only really is one major player round here and a load of other crappy ones but all have the same tech as do all these guys

I find Uber more expensive for the journeys I take now where they used to be the cheapest regardless if there is a possible pick up at the other end.
Luckily never been affected by surge prices but if and when it happens this is usually when I use another mode of transport as it just defeats the purpose of the journey with a surge charge.
I really miss their fixed rates to the airports… that used to be such a good deal…

Yeah but it always seems to be when I need to get to the station!
Heathrow isn’t quite the same as central London - it’s fairly far out so it’s not surprising that it’s more expensive.
If Uber wasn’t the cheapest it just wouldn’t be used. Simple.
