TSB chat

TSB isn’t open for sale; at least not officially.

The offer is niche, not sure any others offer similar. tsb can’t have that many current account customers left, excluding those in for the switch bonus.

Why do you think that?

This. People here, who have an interest in finances and technology, remember this very well.

The general population has probably forgotten all about it.

Competition available, IT meltdown, lack of innovation.

5 million as noted above is more than I expected tbh.

The brand, with its past issues and not really promoting much just tells me it’s older, long term customers there.

I left because of a switch offer to Nationwide, and wanting to bank as ethically as possible. However, the app was and the features were much better than Nationwide and if I needed to would happily return.

The meltdown was of course bad, but for me it was the fact that multiple CS people lied to my face about a non existent fraud team, that I couldn’t go into branch to validate myself etc etc etc.

Five days without any access to money, having to borrow of my parents because I was told even going to branch with my passport wouldn’t allow them to unlock my account. Only to be told five days later that none of that was right and “sorry for the wrong info”. Unsurprisingly the FOS very much agreed they had fallen far short.

Which is a shame in some ways. For a legacy bank I don’t mind the look of the app and the accounts themselves don’t seem all that bad.

I believe all the big banks are part of the"safe places" scheme and will signpost individuals to organisations who can help them.

As for additional assistance, NatWest donated £1m a few years ago to establish the Circle Fund in partnership with SafeLives; the UK-wide charity dedicated to ending domestic abuse.

Other banks support other charities/initiatives.

I got my £100 yesterday.

Where is TSB being switched to? I’m in the middle of Lloyds > Co-op but having to wait for things to happen at 1995 postal speed.

I’m currently having a conversation with them.
I joined on time, and initiated the switch in time. However, because they messed up making the account available to view in my existing TSB user account (I had to chase them daily for a fortnight) the actual switch is registered as two days late. Despite this, the continued to tell me in the chat that all was well and that all I had to do was use my card x number of times by the 27th and all would be well.
Thankfully it’s all in the chat. I think I’ve missed out on the £100 because they didn’t sort themselves out in time for me to get the switch done, but if so I’ll deal with it…

See you at Co-op (if you dare)
