The Trends shortcuts at the top of the ‘Home’ tab open the previous month

Issue: On the home tab, at the very top of the page you can have multiple shortcuts that display information about your current in month trends. The information displayed in the shortcut is correct for the current month.

However, tapping the shortcut itself rather than opening your current month opens the previous completed month. E.g. my current month runs 30th Sept to 30th Oct. Tapping the shortcut though opens 29th Aug - 29th Sep. In September, it was opening 31st July - 28th Aug. I then have to scroll one month over to the correct current month.

If I tap the trends button from the bottom navigation bar it correctly opens to the correct current month. But using the shortcut 100% of the time without fail will always open the previous completed month.

This began in September where it was constantly opening August. I don’t believe it was an issue back in August or previously before then. Seems like something that has begun within the last couple months.

EDIT: At the time I posted this, it seemed like the trends tab was directing me to the right month. Now it seems to not be the case and is directing me to September too.

I’ve tried logging out from the app and back in. Worked correctly for the first try and then back to showing the previous month.

I will say, this is a pretty frustrating recurring bug. Considering money management is one of the key selling points on Monzo, the fact I have to do one more swipe every single time I check my in month budget? Is hundreds of extra swipes a month as I check multiple times a day often

My Spotlight is working accurately, tapping takes me to the current month period.

iPhone 16 Pro, latest TestFlight version.

Interesting

I just tried signing out and then back in. First time it worked fine. Then closing the app and reopening and it started showing me September again.

I’ve had this all this month and I’ve been meaning to report it but could never be bothered and assumed it would just get fixed :grimacing:

I’ve tried to reproduce this issue on Android and can’t - it works as intended, so it must be an iOS-specific bug

I should add that for me it’s when I go into trends from the bottom menu as well, not just spotlight. Once I change to the current month it stays there for a bit then switches back to September, reproducible every time I swipe the app away and reopen it.

(Edit) non-TestFlight iOS

My phone just updated to 6.50.0 and it’s still doing it :slightly_frowning_face:

My November has just started and now trends has switch to opening in October

My november has started and it has now continued with the bug and is showing me October. Incredibly frustrating what ever has happened to cause this

This is still broken

I got in touch with support to raise that this is a bug affecting my account. The first few people agreed that it doesn’t seem right, it seems like a bug. I’m not sure if I was chatting with a human or an AI using a human name though. The responses sounded like an AI bot but were labelled as human.

Responded quickly and referenced a lot of what I said and were happy and agreeing with me. Then they passed it to a specialised time who said yeah, it’s intended behaviour that trends references the previous month rather than the current month.

I explained this is really silly and makes in-month budgeting more annoying while it makes it possibly better to review your previous months. At the very least there should be an option to choose.

I have raised it with support again. This time I was in touch with an AI bot who sounded a lot like the friendly people I spoke to initially when I first raised with support.

This time I raised that the app sends a notification mid way through the month saying “see how you are doing with your budget” and one on the first day of your budget for the next month saying “see how you did last month”

The mid month budget notification, despite explicitly saying it is about seeing how you are currently doing in the current month, opens up the previous month which is completed. The see how the entire month went notification opens up the month two previous.

E.g. my month for Jan started today. Throughout December and when I got the mid month message, it opened up November. “See how you are doing in December! Tap this notification to see November!”

today it send me the message to see how I did last month! Opening it takes me once again to November. So it is consistently stuck showing 1 month back from where it is supposed to be.

I find it impossible to believe it is the correct behaviour that someone on the 1st of January would be getting a notification to look back on how they did in December, and the notification directs them to look at their November budget. This is insane design.

Every single time I want to make use of trends I have to swipe across to get to the information I am actually interested in. Every. Single. Time.

And the AI bot today recommended I post to the bug report page on the forum so that one of the Monzo engineers can pick this up……

This and the Barclaycard issue (that no other open banking services seem to have) has meant I’ve cancelled my paid account and switched to Emma. These paid extras are obviously very low priority for Monzo which is pretty disappointing.
