The Monzo Current Account Preview

This is also my understanding. Test flight is the 2.0 preview and the prepaid app is 1.9.x and at some point the prepaid app will become 2.0 with a migrate/close account option as prepay will cease to exist.

At some point the test flight 2.0 version will be polished CA functionality + any missing prepay app functionality (monzo-monzo, monzo.me, etc.) and this would be the App Store release candidate.

Just my assumption but would be surprised if it’s much different :+1:

Just curious as to how long the “preview” will go on for before it becomes the “full” account which is rolled out to everyone? (already got my preview account)

They’ve said several times, they expect it to happen by the end of the year. There isn’t a set deadline. I’d rather they get it right than rush out something that isn’t ready. I’m already much happier with my current account being with Monzo than I ever have been with any legacy bank!

Can’t wait for that feeling. I @&£*$¥€ hate NatWest.

Got my current account invite about 10 minutes ago. Identity verified and card ordered. Looking forward to being on a true 21st-century banking journey.

Got my invite passed the quiz, just waiting on the TestFlight e-mail…

Just checked my junk E-Mail and again it is empty… still no invite for me.

Send me one now or the bunny gets it!! :hocho: :rabbit: :gun:

Someone PLEASE send Danny an invite… it’s too painful to watch!

The slightly twisted side of me really wishes this is some long running joke internally at Monzo to keep you waiting…

I just got an invite through - so maybe they’re working through the D’s…

Probably is to be fair and if it is I am blaming… :eyes:

I procrastinated getting a Monzo card for long time, now I have one I wish I didn’t, I’ve only had one for 4 months so not in the “6 month” group. Desperate for an account, my current banks are causing me some serious issues, big bank policies made me feel more and more seriously disillusioned by them. Need to break free.

Feedback pre arrival of card -

  1. E-mail arrived into inbox. As you can see above the resolution on the ‘read instructions box’ doesn’t fit the screen. (I am using an iphone 7).

  2. Video and Quiz were smooth and seamless. Although, I would recommend another e-mail at the end of the sign up process just confirming everything that the final screen states (like you will receive a test flight e-mail in 24 hours)

  3. Received test flight e-mail c.30 mins later, really easy to download that.

  4. I like how the Current Account populates your information from the pre-paid app. Although I did note, that you had my old number. The pre paid app I updated with my new number many months ago, so there is I would guess a data point that exists in the databases with my old number.

  5. Found the video selfie verification a little weird. Ran off into a meeting room to do it on my own.

  6. In relation to the photo of driving licence, my only recommendation for improvement would be for the white parameters to autofocus on the licence like it would on Apple Pay/Amazon with a debit card. My natural assumption at the time is that’s what was going to happen so I wasted a minute or so thinking my camera wasn’t going to autofocus. Admittedly I didn’t fully digest the passage telling me to take a photo manually. Anyway would be a nice touch moving forward.

  7. Super impressed with Monzo’s ability to conduct ID verification. I’m not entirely sure how it works at the back end but my assumption was that Monzo would be doing a soft check on my ID with a Credit Reference Agency. Thing is that although I am on the electoral register at my current address and have been for c.6 months, it has still not trickled through to the Credit Reference Agencies. This has caused me no end of problems in the past having to populate 5 years of address history etc.

Overall, super impressed with the process considering it’s a preview. Points above aren’t because I’m disgruntled in any way just observations that can hopefully be taken into account to make the process perfect for the future customers.

I’ve just opened my account. I can’t wait to receive my card!

That has to be the simplest account opening process ever. We’re off to a good start! :sunglasses:

I am happy for you to keep my credit card’s direct debit though, I mean how can you say no to such a great deal, not only am I giving you a CA but you’re also getting a direct debit to get started. :joy:
