I need to create more new topics than everyone else for the community awards and to wind up revels. But mostly to wind up revels.
I’ve proposed this idea twice in off the cuff retorts in an attempt to shift the subject of an off topic discussion away from one thing and towards something a little more pleasant. But behind that retort is, I think, an interesting and potentially fun proposition for the community, since there are a fair few gamers among us. Now I am anticipating this idea being such a flop that I make the infamous revels top 3 (it’s on my bucket list after all) since no one has expressed interest the two times I’ve loosely mentioned it. But it doesn’t have to just be Among Us, or even Among Us at all. We could have a Monzo vs Starling tournament on Mario Kart* or squad up with @Carlo1460 on Apex Legends.
So what do you think, community? Are you interested in gaming together some time?
Yes
0voters
It’s a rare single choice poll. If you’re not interest don’t vote and tell @revels why I should be in his top 3 below. If enough folks choose yes (say 8) and Among Us is good with everyone, I’ll run some more polls to hash out schedule availability and we can go from there. If it all works out, perhaps we can arrange some more.
Small note: wasn’t sure if I should pop this into tech & gaming or community & events. Anyone feel free to move it if you think it’s more appropriate in the other category.
I like the idea and hope it turns into something great!
As for me, I hardly have time for gaming these days, except for a bit of CS2 here and there. If people fancy their chances with this game, I can own a few of you on there one day
Gotta beat @mastercardnevervisa first, who’s already off to a good start. 2? 3 topics already??
I didn’t mean to offend with my prior comment
I feel this is the most appropriate as it is played on technology, and it’s a game. A rather good game.
I think after they updated it to have it so that there was more than just “crew” and “imposter”, I kinda lost interest. I’m downloading it right now though to see what it’s like nowadays.
Your win ratio won’t go up with me on your team I can tell you that!
That sounds a lot like me with Fortnite. I’m terrible at it, but I sure enjoy playing it.
Never played CS2, But I’m down for giving it a go.
no chance!
It can be very group and rules dependant! Good group with good rules and it can be tons of fun. I sometimes lose hours to it at night in my wind down time.
The concept isn’t that dissimilar from The Traitors. You have a group of up to 15 players. 1 to 3 of those crew members will be imposters. Their goal is to kill the rest of the crew without getting caught and you can blend in by faking tasks. Crew members either have to complete all their collective tasks before imposters kill them all. Or figure out who the imposters are and vote them out at discussion meetings (the round table).
The game ends when imposters outnumber the remaining crew (imposters win), when all tasks have been completed (crew win), or all imposters have been ejected (crew win).
Or if you’d prefer a short (4 minute) video overview showing you how to play:
It features at the start of Glass Onion on Netflix.
I’ve gravitated towards Among Us for a few reasons:
It’s free
It’s platform agnostic, on everything from mobiles to PCs and consoles, and they can all cross play.
The concept is similar to The Traitors and the gameplay is fairly simple that most folks who have never played it before would be able to pick it up with ease.
It supports a large group of players (up to 15).
But it doesn’t have to be among us if folks would prefer something else.
Since 10 people have expressed interest though, I’ll run some more multiple choice polls later to hash out availability and find the best days/times so that as many folks as possible can get involved. And to see if folks are cool with Among Us, or would rather something else for our first game.
