I used to work in the same office building as Dash.
I like the concept a lot. Unfortunately same as N26 I find the actual product isn’t very nice . The fruit flavour is very weak, I’d really just prefer to drink water. Also, however they make and package the product, environmentally you are still hugely better to fill your own reusable bottle.
They’ve landed such a good marketing campaign about the whole wonky fruit thing.
Long story short;
The entire [pre-packaged] beverage industry will use wonky fruit.
It’s only a Grocery/Retail setting that doesn’t - anything outside of a certain grade will get used commercially.
Anything you buy pre-made in retail (soup, ready meals, drinks, etc) - will all use to a degree the same “wonky” veg that Dash claim to use.
Lastly, they use flavours and extracts for their flavour components - big flavour houses will extract via distallation and in some cases chemical extraction, the named flavour.
These would be used at <1% of the drink to add the flavour.
They’ve got this great campaign on the Tube at the moment, with 1 single wonky fruit next to 1 single can - but in reality the amount of fruit they use is miniscule
There’s no issue at all with using flavours, I just dislike it when it’s claiming to be ‘saving fruit’ in the way DASH do.
This is the challenge with both b-corps and in fact the whole sustainability thing. It’s not enough to have a certificate as you can essentially “buy them” with enough effort put into making things look good.
Also, a great campaign typically beats sustainability anyway.
I still feel that while b-corp is a good mark to start with, nothing beats proper research into any companies so called “environmental bruv” credentials
I’m off on Holiday soon and needed some new Sunglasses so you may have seen Sungod who seem to be all over Social Media. They are a certfied B Corps and offer a lifetime warranty
They have a few different styles and can be customised and a bit of a change from the Bolle or Oakley I normally buy.
I was lucky to get an offer where I got a free pair of their Renegades with the Tempests that I bought
