Most big name banks for a reasonably straightforward chargeback will give the money back at the start and absorb the loss if the chargeback is lost.

No, they’ll give you the money at the start (because they literally get the money back from the merchant’s bank at that point) and they’ll re-debit it if they lose.

Mastercard chargeback taking more than 3 months

My Mastercard chargeback was submitted in October and Monzo say they still don’t have any resolution. I asked them for an update and they said no. They said someone will only contact me once the dispute is resolved. Do the chargeback rules say that they’re not allowed to give any updates? It’s quite concerning that I have no idea what’s going on and no timeline of how long this could go on for.
