Hmmmm…a Santander 123 account for the cashback?
Not a fan of Santander. I have a number of Ltd co business accounts with them, and they don’t sit right with me.
Don’t sit on them?
Wow - just tried using my Starling account. Not sure if they refer to Pots as “Goals” or “Spaces” (the terms seem interchangeable in the app), but it appears you can’t get the money out of one without closing it completely?! Never mind the interest, I’ve just moved everything back into Monzo. I’ll just keep Starling for cash deposits as it sounds like I’m about to be kicked out of HSBC…
Er…no so. Just click on the amount in the Goal…type how much you want to withdraw…hit withdraw. Simples
Starling isn’t right for everyone
Looks like FT did it for is…
Saves my brain…
The guide is top right ? in the goals part of the app - tap on the balance to move money back.
Ah well. It’s all empty now. I clicked round for ages trying to find a way.
That UI is elegant, but UX is not obvious at first encounter.
I recall a number of people on the Starling forum asking why they had to close a pot to withdraw.
Did you really?
Yes - why?
A very quick search shows you weren’t alone:

Ha ha - and they still haven’t fixed it? Amazing.
Course they haven’t. They don’t actually like to read the forum. They just pop up occasionally to apologise, Anne looking all serious etc.
Read instructions … who does that?
It is the sign of truly poor UX if you need to!
No denying the poor UX
To be fair, many people get confused by the monzo pot UX not knowing they can edit the amount paid in our removed precisely. Monzo have also not changed anything
Edit: so if Starling are dropping the ball here then so are Monzo
Yep. Definitely reeks of “here’s a UI that precisely one (important) person thinks is a good idea”
It still bugs me that the confirm button is hidden by the pop–up numerical keyboard.
