Can you enlighten me why please?
If it doesn’t matter, why do most banks tell you where the purchase occurred, both the business and the location.
Just one of those want to know things, some people might find it useful to jog their memory where they spent it.
Majority probably don’t care for it, not sure I’ve ever relied on a map to tell me where I was at the time, I’d know by the name.
I’m not saying it doesn’t matter. I’m asking because I want to know why some people think it’s useful. Why is it useful to you?
I/ve had times, especially if I’m on holiday, where I’ve not recognised a transaction and the map is useful for checking where that purchase was and if it was someone I’d visited.
For large chains (like Tesco) it’s probably not that useful but when you see random merchant name in your transactions list, it nice to be able to refer to the map and go ;’Oh yeah - we did got for a drink in that pub or stop off at a coffee shop there.
I have same
Maybe it’s because of the migration to their own card processing
I thought that was done ages ago with the new cards?
Thought they said it was a phased transition
Oh!
About time! Transfers were messing up a lot
Annoyingly still impacts Pulse.
What’s the significance of moving to an in-house card processor? Does Monzo do this? What are the benefits for Starling?
I think a lot/most of Monzo is in house now. Faster payments was moved in house a while ago as well as BACS.
https://monzo.com/blog/technology is a good read.
I think long term it’s cheaper and the bank has more control. Starling and Mondo both used to use GPS which started to have capacity issues because of (primarily Mondo’s) popularity. And GPS would take a cut of the interchange revenue too, I think.
Monzo developed their own card processor early doors, around the time they moved from prepay to the current account, if memory serves.
I was always surprised that Starling didn’t seem interested in doing the same, given their banking as a service ambitions and direct connections to pretty much everything else.
This happened to me when I made my first deposit to Chip. They released it within 10 minutes, though.
Not at all. I have four current accounts linked to Zopa.
Starling has already moved to it’s own in house processer.
