It’d be good if Monzo offered this. I’ve seen it requested previously, but I’m not aware of any plans to introduce it.

The data to identify cashback must be there as I can see it on RBS transactions at Morrisons. (they don’t separate it but it is in the description) The merchant data is also slighty different for the petrol station and I presume this is how Starling can identify petrol whether you pay at the pump or not.

I, along with plenty of others have raised this issue but it seems to have fallen of the table a little.
Is there anything on the roadmap to accommodate splitting the same transaction into multiple categories? For example, if I were to spend £100 in ASDA this would come out of my grocery tab as standard but if I were to buy household items or medicine I would want those categories to be updated.
Without this feature, the budgeting within Monzo doesn’t work as desired as I often have to over budget my grocery budget.

I completely agree. Havent had a response on this or custom categories for a while.
Taking cash out completely wrecks my budgeting so ive just stopped using summary altogether, needs to be a lot more granular

From all that’ss been posted on the forum, I’m fairly sure that the answer is ‘No’.
I guess there could be a surprise somewhere in the future but, if that’s the case, we won’t find out about it until it happens.
+1 vote for this feature, budgeting and spending analytics don’t make sense otherwise.

+1 for this, it happens quite frequently for me where a withdrawal or payment has more than one purpose, but it has to only be assigned to spending category messing up the budget and spend reporting.
Hopefully you voted for it. 
Surely the user could determine the split within the app . Similar to bill splitting.

I’m new to Monzo, only had it a week, but this stands out as a real weakness to the platform. I joined to have more control over my grocery spending but since the app lumps in things like fuel & household supplies with my groceries - I can’t see an accurate breakdown. A feature to split a transaction into another category would be really useful, even if it’s a manual thing.
Like the user hitting “Split into another category” > popup asking which category & how much > subtract that amount from current category & create a new transaction in target category

Be nice to see a way to split categories for purchases. For example, if you go to a supermarket or large store, you may buy Groceries, “Shopping”, and items you class as “healthcare”. I end up adding them all to my grocery budget, which throws it out of whack.
Instead of a £50 grocery budget, we could split it to £30 groceries, £15 shopping £5 health, for example.
Feel like this would be too messy and wouldn’t benefit many people much.
Messy both for Monzo and the end user. In terms of creating, deploying and using it.
Well, when I shop in places like Tesco my “grocery” budget is way out of what it actually is. I can buy gifts, health and groceries in one place but can only log it as one category. I just think it would be nice to have the option to split if necessary, not force

Best way to do this at the moment is to spend on a credit card then immediately pay it off in the chunks / categories you desire.

Mind you, I’d still only use it if I had custom categories available (or a much longer list to choose from as ‘my categories’), but I agree. Head to the big supermarket, buy a present, buy some socks, buy a new kettle. All goes under ‘groceries’?

Didn’t see this and went ahead and posted my own idea Split Transactions which is identical to this. sorry
Split transactions are a must at least for me to move fully to Monzo, only today did I make a purchase where I needed to split the transaction over two categories and couldn’t, while spending on a credit card then paying the card off later may be a “work around” it sure is messy and takes away from the elegance that Monzo brings to the banking experience in my opinion.
Monzo could still use it’s wizardry 
to figure out where I have spent my money, if I swipe at Sainsbury’s 9/10 that is going to be groceries but that one time I went in to get food and flowers isn’t always just groceries so Monzo can still categorize that as Groceries but if I had the option as outlined in my idea linked above to split the transaction after the fact it would make managing that money SO MUCH easier.

Automated receipt readers? Amazon APIs to track merchant data??
NO! Just a very simple user option to allow a manual split of a transaction. Why is that so hard for Monzo to sort out?

Because it isn’t a simple thing to build.
Someone might want to to follow one way of doing this; tap transaction, tap split, then … what? type a number and select a category?
Whereas I want to tap transaction, pick the categories to split it across, and then type the number. Ohh and I want to be able to split one transaction across as many categories as I want…
It can get complex quite quickly. Which way is best?? Which way makes sure that any future additions in this area won’t be harder to add (custom categories for example).
TL;DR - These things take time and Monzo are working on a lot of other things at present I guess.

Ok fair enough I didn’t appreciate all the different user requirements that need to be considered. Having said that, something would be better than nothing and clearly there’s a demand for it given the feedback on this forum already.
