See your mortgage in Monzo šŸ  [Mortgage Referrals pilot live šŸš€]

I realise this is a little premature but my mortgage money was released yesterday pending completion on a house purchase today. Any idea how long it may be before my mortgage might show up in Monzo? Would it need to wait for the next credit score update at the end of December or could it show up at any time and I just need to keep checking?

Worked for me but threw an error whilst going through the confirmation screens. I backed out and it has still been applied.

Nothing premature about taking control of your mortgage finances (congrats on the purchase!) :house_with_garden:

If we’ve not found a mortgage then you can go through the connection flow now and set a reminder and we’ll keep checking for you! :sparkles:

As Michael says - I’d expect that your new lender will report this at their ā€œend of Novemberā€ submission to the credit bureaux and this normally shows up within about 3 weeks of the new month, but some lender updates can miss the month.

And also in agreement that your first monthly payment might be reported differently and then it settles down to your contractual payment after that!

Thanks, done.

We’ve been live for a year now! :calendar:
I came to you with my first post on the Community 1 year (and 1 day ago) announcing a brand new feature - the ability to see your mortgage in Monzo.

We’ve come far in that time with lots of new tools and my favourite: being able to see your property equity :house_with_garden: :rainbow:

A big thank you to everyone who has been here from when we launched in Labs or only just found the feature!

An extra special thank you for those who have given feedback (I’ve read more than 8,500 pieces of feedback ), you’ve helped us shape what the product has evolved into.

P.S. we’ll be adding something new pretty soon too…

I love seeing my mortgage in the app. Admittedly it’s depressing how much I have left :sob: but it’s a great feature and I’m looking forward to trying out the calculator element for extra repayments. It’s not showing as it’s a new mortgage. Great work Harry and team :tada:

We actually spent a little time over the last few days thinking about improving the ā€œout of the box experienceā€ for folks with a new mortgage! I’m hoping that we can make some small tweaks that means we’re able to open up the tools sooner as well as for those who have an interest only mortgage :abacus: :slightly_smiling_face:

We won’t make changes overnight but I’m keen that we can help people as early as possible in their new home!

I’ve added my mortgage fine but I get an error message whenever I try to find my equity. Is this a known issue or is it user error?!

Hi Victoria - welcome!

Hmm - that’s not good, are you able to share a screenshot of what you see (and remove anything personal/sensitive) and I can take a look into this for you :slightly_smiling_face:

What would you suggest for someone on a Shared Ownership style mortgage who wants to use this feature? Will it work or not so much? If not, are there plans to add this functionality?

Hi Adam! What do you see when you try to add your property?

Unfortunately, Shared Ownership has been a bit of a funky one… we’ve seen instances of:

  • The full property purchase price listed at HM Land Registry
  • The full value of the share of the purchase price at HM Land Registry
  • Some other value listed at HM Land Registry
  • No registration listed at HM Land Registry at all

As you might imagine, that makes it pretty challenging to help folks with an easy next step when we have no way of knowing which path they’re on…

You should still be able to add your information manually! If so, I’d suggest only adding the current value / (or original purchase price) of your share rather than the total property value to give you a more accurate equity figure!

Let me know if you have any issues

My mortgage has now appeared in Monzo after just over a month which is good.

I can’t find the overpayment tool the help articles refer to. Any reason why this wouldn’t be appearing for me on my mortgage page?

Also, my current deal is tracking the base rate. It would be good if you could specify this and the offset from base when setting the current deal info and have the app automatically calculate the current rate.

Other than that, seems to work fine.

Great to hear you’ve got it connected!

The main thing here is that we do the main calculations by also using your balance history and when it is a really new mortgage there’s no balance history for us to work with - but you should be able to start using it after the next month’s data comes in :+1: (if your first payment was substantially different then it may need a further month to fully settle down)

Relatedly - we spent some time just before the festive break about how we could make those first few months better for folks like you - stay tuned!

Eagle eyes :eagle: :eyes: That’s actually just a small oversight on the design (to save you all from seeing my mortgage while I’ve been testing it) and shouldn’t be there!

We’ve actually found that these menus aren’t super discoverable for some folks - who mention that we are missing [insert functionality here] when in fact it is just behind the menu. Not a problem unique to use as a team but something we’re thinking of ways to manage…

I can see my mortage in monzo, but rate is wrong. actually its not the rate… apologies

Change it?

How often is the value calculated for the equity value? I noticed the value of mine has reduced 100k (it was probably unrealistically high before anyway) from what it was showing before, but seems like there might be a lot of fluctuation depending on whether there have been recent sales in the area
