Santander Chat ♨️

In my case Lloyds got triggered because I used my work computer to apply for an account, I work for a US company so it looked like I was in the US, and my browser blocks location. So they opened the account and then it went to review and they closed it. From then on I haven’t been able to open a Lloyds account as they have put some kind of marker on my account.

In the case here it may be something in the application process triggered a manual review and that’s what caused them to close

Did you use the account for any payments whilst waiting for the online bank set up?

Any difference in earnings / salary to what goes in another bank account?

Just got accepted for the World Elite card looking forward to stop paying for a sim for my ipad and using there one instead

Select, I called them up and they said ‘Do you qualify, I said yes and they set me up the next day’. She did say the login screen and app says Select, but mine hasn’t they did open the Select Saving account for me (but I have little interest in paying Tax on my savings’

Literally a different savings account and the world elite card. I think things get more interesting if you can get to Private. The lady did mention a different phone number to call.

Yes I think you can get more with HSBC

Don’t you get a nicer pattern on your card too?

Personally, I think that’s a nice design!

They show this one on the website

As far as I am aware it is the same Red debit card that all Santander accounts have. It’s only the credit thats different. Suspect it’s cheaper for them, as the Select is not a seperate account.

Some Select accounts get the usual bubble background on a debit card, others have that diamond pattern. I don’t think there’s any logic to it.

I originally had the bright gold coloured card on Select when it was Visa. Then when they switched to MC I had a plain red one, and later a vertical standard red one.

Not sure if this has changed recently but they now advertise Select not as an account (in fact you need an existing account to join Select) but more a set of lifestyle benefits. I did specifically ask the lady I spoke to if I would get a new account and she said, no this is just an add-on. I have two current accounts with them and they didn’t ask which one was my main one.

Hopefully I’ll get the £90 for opening the World Elite card, you just need to pay by DD and make 5 payments within 2 months

Edit: The reason I asked the question is I recently switched my salary into my Edge account and asked in case I need to move it to a new sort code & account… nope

Select I think just asks for £5000 a month to be paid in. Before it was a special account but that’s gone now.

I don’t think mine was ever a special account. It was just a 123 account that had Select bolted-on and a different debit card. I later changed it to 123 Lite as the benefits were eroded and it remained Select branded on internet banking. Then after further cuts I switched away for a Barclays switch offer.

I saw a card at the top of the app the other day saying I’d need to confirm my identity otherwise I’d lose some app access.

I started the process but stopped when it said I’d need some ID (passport, etc) as I didn’t have any to hand.

I looked for my passport and decided to get it done today.

But the card isn’t there anymore, there’s just an undismissable card encouraging me to rearrange my home screen (again).

If it’s that important why tell me once and don’t allow me to do it again, I thought.

Then it hit me. The app access I would lose is the ability to access the card warning me that I’d lose some app access.

Makes complete sense now.

Logged on today to change some standing orders and saw the horrible SELECT next to the Santander banner like some 90’s MS Paint attempt.

Unlike RBS/Natwest the app on android doesn’t change and doesn’t say SELECT at all

Was that in one of their cafe locations? I wondered with the black & white

No just an oldschool branch

This is the card that finally arrived today with the kind of diamond pattern. Also didn’t realise the 3GB of data is per YEAR not per month lol. Still lounge access and fast track and you make 0.5% (up to £15 pm) cashback

Santander just told me they have launched a new credit card today, the Rewards Credit Card.

3% Cashback in year 1 on various things like travel and eating out

0.25% cashback on everything else

no FX fees.

They told me I’d have to do a new application, and not change my current zero card to this.
