Santander Chat ♨️

Thought so as i am on android and update isnt showing yet

Not sure why Santander has never been appealing to me. Maybe it’s the red branding, and their teasing about leaving the UK for a while and then a complete u-turn by absorbing TSB don’t bring much confidence to me. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

It’s the red for me, not my colour at all tbh.

The app isn’t that bad.

Santander in Jersey is one of the main banks.

They have a really nice branch and also its a Cafe. Which is really nice.

A lot of people in Jersey have Santander International Accounts. It was one of my very first accounts and i’ve stuck with them ever since.

Only compliant I have with them is the International Mobile Banking App. It’s pretty bad!

The entire leaked story that Santander was to leave the UK/two of the big 4 banks had approached Santander to acquire their UK operation was driven solely to influence the Chancellor and the FCA not to go heavy on them with the car finance scandal.

No way CMA would allow a takeover from one of the big 4 - to get even bigger. And I’m sure Santander didn’t just decide one day to buy TSB.

I always thought it was a bit of politics… we will never know. Pure speculation of mine.

Always been happy with Santander personally. Never had an issue with them. I do like the red branding personally, much better than the sea of blues out there!

I really like their branding and their cards.

Has anyone figured out if there are notifications now?

There aren’t.

If only I checked here first. Spent time adding card to Apple Pay using card number, then sending money, and then adding money to my Monzo by Apple Pay.

Total waste of time, no notifications.

Fastest account closure I’ve ever actioned :face_holding_back_tears:

Couldn’t you set up 3 dummy direct debits and switch into Club Lloyds and bag that £250 bonus?

I switched my Chase in for that, but I don’t feel I’m eligible as not received it.

The only time I’ve had an account with Santander was a savings account in the early 2010s. Opening the account generated about half a dozen letters, most of which came with a cover sheet saying something like “please find enclosed a letter about your Santander account”.

I think it gave me such bad vibes about the state of their IT system and general efficiency that I’ve not touched them since.

I actually think the app is up there with the best of the legacy banks. No notifications is a mystery though.

I’ve always thought Santander acquiring TSB would be the perfect rescue for TSB cos they’re both Spaniards and have the same issue to overcome.

Came across this insightful post. Apparently Santander has pulled off conversion of their core banking. I opened a joint TSB when Banco Sabadell was already running their system so I wasn’t affected by the big failed migration and didn’t get what the meltdown was all about. My overall experience with TSB was quite positive, internet banking makes sense and they give the option to text you after the end of an ATM session which I found useful.

It’s a mystery to me and given the money they have put into modernising the app, you’d think they would add this.

I think the app is pretty good but alas notifications are a deal breaker for me.

No :joy: it’s just been sat for ages doing nothing, I only opened it for cashback via MSE or something.

Had a nice meeting with Santander Corporate Banking today.

They have confirmed that a new website is being made for both business and personal customers as even they admitted that its horrible to use, slow and brings down the business reputation as a modern bank.

We did point out to them at some of are clients prefer to do everything on the mobile app as they hate using the website.

But a new website is on the way which is awesome to hear!

Looking online it does look like something from the 2000s

It’s been known for quite some time that a new website was being developed. I first heard about it from a employee at Santander International in Jersey. But glad to hear its being actively developed!

As well as losing 20,000 customers in the latest CASS figures, they’ve announced some branch closures.

I think at this rate they want less cutomers

It’d be surprising to know what customers leave on the basis of no branch access. Probably a minority.
