I definitely only got it once!
So did someone on MSE, unless it was you ![]()

Nope, not me. Wonder what caused it and, more to the point, how I can do it again ![]()
So, I’ve finally had my “forced” upgrade to the new Santander. The good news is that it’s not as bad as their Pilot app.
However, there are a few things it desperately needs including:
- a dark mode (the background is less eye friendly than the old app);
- the ability to reorder accounts on the home page (I want to see my savings accounts before the cards I have); and
- an option to make each box on the home page and transaction feed smaller (as Nationwide has recently done).Way too much scrolling otherwise
Can you not alter and move on the online banking? That’s how I got rid of viewing some savings accounts and put my life insurance on.
It then translated over to the app.
tbh, I hadn’t thought of that
However, the new app orders the homepage by default in the following order:
- current accounts
- debit cards
- credit cards
- savings accounts
And debit cards don’t appear on the home page in online banking not as a option on the reordering bit.
I have the android app. I think the rollout of the new app is further ahead than on iOS which I assume you are on.
On Android, the Pilot app shows a message to delete the app and it no longer works.
On the main Santander app, I reached the point where I couldn’t use the app unless I updated.
Re-ordering via the online banking doesnt translate to the pilot app, but it does the on the old app.
The changes I made online translated to the Pilot app for me.
ah, cool
Santander (abroad) is not having a good time this week
https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/banco-santander-warns-of-a-data-breach-exposing-customer-info/
https://banco.santander.cl/personas/comunicacion-importante
Data was just listed for sale for $2M, including (allegedly, but rather certainly) 6M account numbers and balances and 28M credit card numbers along with HR employee lists, customer data and “much more”
Yikes…
If I was one of those affected, I think I would want more than just words on a page and an apology.
I have a lot of my banking through Santander and this is making me consider whether that’s wise. From what has been published, the UK arm has not been affected.
Yup, their response is pretty underwhelming
BBC article today:
BBC has picked up on it just now too
Jinx!
So it seems like this is connected to the TM hack, which is what ShinyHunters claimed originally, I’m sure these companies are praying for this to turn out to be over exaggerated but it seems like the claims are authentic
A cloud service company called Snowflake seems to be actually responsible, and have enjoyed really no media coverage until today
In this article, the person who breached snowflake claims he exfiltrated “pretty much all these companies” that includes Virgin Media Ireland and Three among others (not confirmed, and they could also not be storing important data with Snowflake)
Edit: snowflake denied being breached
Hey, did anyone get a Santander Boosts email today with a random person’s name and partial postcode?
Yeah seems to be an error of some kind.
Oh dear - Santander aren’t having a good week when it comes to data!
