Revolut Chat

I tried for my first name but had to go with my full name instead. Shame.

Huge if true.

Congrats to Rev - but I do worry that this might be a bit of a fintech bubble…

Just let the venture capitalists pay over the odds, surely?

Revolut will float and the market will correct cf. Deliveroo.

That works for individual companies, but the bubble phenomenon is when you have a whole class or category of company that’s affected.

I hope this all turns out to be hypothetical, but if Rev ends up listing / floating for Ā£100bn which is then totally unsustainable and causes the market to react / bubble to burst for fintech generally, it could take screw up the Starlings, Monzos, (Transfer)Wises of this world. Especially if they’re preprofitability.

Today I setup a new Revolut account

The whole account was online and verified in under 20 minutes but one weird thing I noticed that I didn’t have a UK account number and sorted.

I sent them a message about an hour ago and they answered within 2 minutes. The person on the chat took my details and then pointed out that I had previously had an account which might be causing the issue. She came back to me 30 minutes later and asked me to reinstall the app. Voila! the local account details appeared.

I am absolutely astounded by the speed and the quality of the response

I’ve finally caved and signed up. After several (easy) verification steps, I got my preferred name and also a sort code & account number. Dark mode too :eyes:

The app seems a bit disjointed, but I’m not familiar with it at all yet. Let’s see!

I feel they have too many features and it can all seem a bit cluttered. Something I’ve just discovered this week though is that you can turn off tabs for features you don’t want to use.

I’ve got the home screen now just set to accounts and cards, the rest all in that hub thing because I’m not really interested in share or crypto dealing

I went looking for the option to hide the tabs I don’t use (I’m in a similar situation where I really don’t plan on using anything beyond accounts and cards) and I don’t see any. I’m kind of surprised this isn’t available to US users like myself, since it’s a UI thing and wouldn’t require any regulatory approvals.

Yep, this did the trick. Thanks! Not the most intuitive approach, though.

That’s a bit of a game changer, i had no idea you could do that, if only you could get rid of al the other crap that bloats the accounts tab and it might be usable

It seems you can :+1:

If you tap and hold, the tab headers ā€˜wobble’ and they also have a ā€˜-’ sign at the top-right. Carefully tap on that and it’ll disappear. A pop-up informs the area will still be available in the hub.

EDIT: You can do the same in reverse too, select an item from the hub, tap on the three dots at the top right and tap on ā€˜+ Pin to Home’ and it’ll then show in Accounts.

Certainly not intuitive, but very flexible.

I can’t on iOS, I can do that for the top level tabs but not for the sub headings per tab :frowning:

Does this mean other apps also have iOS/Android parity issues? Well I never.

Unless it’s a terminology thing. Do you mean the stuff that is actually in the Accounts tab?
(I’m referencing the tap & hold to reorder/delete the tab headings next to the ā€˜Accounts’ tab but not anything within/below the accounts tab)

Bear in mind, I’m very new to Revolut

Whilst I have had an account for a while, I never use it because Monzo is enough for me and the Revolut app has just too much going on, so having said that I’d class myself as new too

Yes, things like To Do, Suggested For You and Rewards etc

I know you can clear the To Do and suggested by clicking the crosses however the next day they’ll be back again

For those of you who’ve taken the plunge but haven’t ordered a card if you wait a week or two Revolut will often offer to waive the delivery fee in my experience

I’ve given in trying to get an account tried again yesterday. It never verifies my ID correctly, the same ID I’ve used for every other bank that ever needs it scanning in

It wouldn’t accept my driving licence, I had to use a passport

If you go to the tab and there is a description of the tab and you can choose to hide it:

Was it a provisional if I can ask?

Can’t try that option, it’s been out of date for years
