If you downgraded from metal after 14 days how did you pay just 12.99?
If you downgrade after 14 days but within 10 months
If you pay your subscription in monthly instalments, we wonât make any refund and youâll have to pay the subscription for the month in which you tell us youâd like to end or downgrade your subscription. Weâll also charge a break fee equal to two monthsâ subscription.
If you pay the full subscription once a year, we wonât refund any of the full yearâs subscription you paid, but we wonât charge a break fee.
Downgrade to plus/premium on the renewal date IE 1st of the month, then cancel from there.
Iâd love to see how the gold looks in the wild.
But it looks like they now charge a break fee of 2 months:
Weâll also charge a break fee equal to two monthsâ subscription.
Thatâs if you cancel, but downgrading I didnât have this barrier. And then just downgraded to standard the same day I downgraded to plus.
Lol - so a kind of loophole.
so letâs say I subscribe to metal on the 1st of Sep and get the new card.
I would need to downgrade to premium on the 1st of Oct or just 14 days after the subscription?
Then downgrade to plus on the same day of downgrading to premium or 14 days after again?
Can you downgrade from plus to free without being hit with these extra charges or would that be seen as a cancellation?
Then Iâd have the metal and premium cards that would still be active until their expiry date I understand.
They still state they can charge you extra at their discretion though
Sometimes, we may waive the fee you pay for a downgrade. Where we do this, you might need to promise to do (or not do) certain things to be eligible for the waiver. For example, we might waive your downgrade fee if you sign up to a new plan, but you might need to promise not to cancel that new plan within a certain time. Whether or not we will waive a fee is our decision. Weâll let you know if we are willing to waive a break fee for you (for example, in app or by email).
The renewal date, so when they next take the ÂŁ12.99, at that point in time, downgrade, which should refund you, once completed, then downgraded again to standard and should all be good.
Whether they have since become wise I donât know. Does seem an easy loophole so maybe theyâve clocked on
Knowing my luck Iâll get hit by extra charges during each downgrade and up with a couple of very expensive extra cards.
I just like the idea of having the metal card.
I may have worked it all out after the 14 day cool off. On day 15 have a look at the downgrade options, which it should explain the charges/refunds involved.
I definitely only paid ÂŁ12.99 for all 3 cards (metal, premium and chromatic)
When did you last downgrade from metal? They did update their pricing terms on the 1st July this year.
I need to compare them to see the changes in more detail but many thanks for the tip.
Terms look the same for downgrading after checking
Yeah I was unsure but it let me do it.
I paid my ÂŁ12.99 30th June, downgraded to Plus just before 30th July which then took ÂŁ2.99 30th July, and then 1st August downgraded to standard free which gave me a refund of ÂŁ2.99.
I long for the dayâs they get better merchant data.
Not sure how other direct debits view through revolut, not sure Iâve any easy ones to move.
Any idea if the quality of the metal/ink has improved? Read some comments about ink coming off after a few months of use but this was a while ago.
No issues with mine though I hate the black so donât use it.
Which colour you going for?
Not sure if Iâm going ahead with the change yet. Weighing up the options.
Colours arenât very well defined on the option page
Looks like Grey, Purple or Gold but I see there are:
Gold, Rose Gold, Silver and Space Grey
I would probably choose silver or space grey. Maybe the latter.
I like my space grey premium (plastic), thereâs no silver for me, unless you mean lavender?
Iâd space grey or gold myself.
ah yes looks like it is listed as lavender in the app.
Gold would catch the eye of merchants while paying if thatâs what you want
My crew so far.
Might try for the gold but not sure what happens when I have more than 5 cards? Pick off the weakest?
Also, cashback isnât great as itâs 0.1% in EU, and capped at the ÂŁ12.99 limit, so I guess makes the perks free.
Starling and Monzo label as such, Revolut have a mess of merchant data.
Sainsburyâs local shows as a generic image until the transaction settles then shows the S in orange/white.
