Plus Free Trial - Feedback Thread

Morning,
I’m aware Monzo needs to make money and I am aware that offering everyone a free trial may convert people to a paid Monzo plan but I don’t want my banking experience to suddenly change for a month

I would like an option to refuse the Monzo Plus free trial.
Appreciate the offer through Monzo!

Thank you.

It auto cancels, I believe.

EDIT: you can cancel it sooner, if you wish by going to the plus tab and scrolling to the bottom

I don’t want it for 32 more days.

Shall I just contact support?

If you go to the plus tab at the bottom of your monzo app, then scroll down, it’s somewhere in there to cancel straight away

Perfect, thanks so much!

Thanks from me as well. I hate it on principle when I get signed up to something I didn’t request!

I think on the initial we’ve upgraded you screen it just needs a ‘Nah, I’m good thanks’ button.

That should sort out all this confusion and insecurity.

100% this!
I would still have said no but would have been more open to given it a go!

I felt like I was being forced into something that I didn’t ask for!

That’s exactly how I feel.

I think this thread has run its course.

Monzo did a thing - some people liked it, some people didn’t.

And the same for paid accounts and features.

I don’t think it has to be honest, and I hope Monzo learn from this.

They don’t want to give you the option to skip out as outlined above.

They’ll deal with a few people complaining that they can’t cancel (you can) if it gets them more subscribers.

Do people phone Sky and rant that they’ve been given free movies for a month?

I only got my upgrade notification this morning so it’s possibly still being rolled out.

I agree that it could be clearer on the initial screen, and an option to dismiss/reject would be helpful.

Thats a one off once consumed vs an going service though.

If you were given access to movies that required a subscription and then said thats it if you want access to continue you got to pay is one thing.

If you got half way through a film before it ended you can take it or leave it by renting that film or going nah.

Having a free trial of Plus and hoping they get hooked on the paid features is different which isn’t just i only need one virtual card but im going to have to pay £5 for the other guff to keep that constantly going.

Whilst its similar its not the same thing.

It’s exactly the same.

Watch the movies or don’t.

Use the features of Plus or don’t.

Most people like movies so its a positive experience being given access to them, Plus hasn’t got anything beneficial to everyone.

Banking and entertainment is completely different.

Being auto enrolled into banking features is going to grind peoples gears like if i was given an overdraft without my permission.

So 98% would love free movies. 2% might be annoyed who dont care for movies and dont want anything to do with it and would never watch one so its pointless.

2% would would love the fact that a decision has been made to auto enroll them into using paid features of their banking app.

I know - my point is this thread is turning into the usual do you like plus or not which is a circular and subjective conversation.

It’s clear (I think) that some people like it, others don’t and others would prefer you to have the option to say no thanks or not have it in the first place.

It’s probably more helpful for your anti-Monzo posts that you don’t just make numbers up.
