Pay from pots like HyperJar

I like everything about the Monzo app, but I think HyperJar jar/pot functionality is better. With HyperJar I can have many pots/jars, but I only need one card, simply click the jar I want to pay from and tap my card.

Monzo requires me to have a virtual card for every pot I want to pay from. I don’t want more cards, I want less.

A long press on the pot I want to pay from to link it, into Apple Pay, pay….simple.

HyperJar has the option to link for a single transaction or link until it is unlinked by me. For example, I may have a holiday spending money pot that I want to use while I am away, when I return home, unlink and return to the main account.

Hi Matt,

Welcome to Monzo Community!

What you’re describing is basically Chase UK. I’d have a look at getting an account with them. Bear in mind there are a few things you wouldn’t be able to do such as deposit cash and cheques, or send CHAPS payments.

My first thought too.

Smaller limit though with only 10 current accounts allowed, I believe, debit cards not bring attached to their savings accounts.

Personally, not a path I would like to see Monzo treading.

From Chase UK:

You can have up to 20 accounts open with us at once, with a maximum of 10 saver accounts. Each account will have its own unique account number which you can use to transfer money from another bank. Having more than one account with us won’t impact your credit score.

You can only have one round-up account, which isn’t included in the 20 account limit.

So they’re actually matching Monzo for “pots”.

I don’t think Monzo will go down this route, because they can upsell their virtual cards at £3 a month at the minute.

Sorry no, hyperjar difference is that you can have rules to say for example ‘Tesco’ comes from my grocery pot but Tesco Garage comes from my motoring pot. So I find it a lot more flexible than having to choose before a payment.
Especially for subscriptions where I want them from a single pot, but not sure when they would hit the card.
