Overdraft application journey broken

Overdraft application journey states you need to verify income and connect the account your salary is paid to. My salary is paid to Monzo but that isn’t an option for one of the banks salary is paid to (Only BOI/AIB/PTSB and Revolut are options)- it almost reads like Monzo don’t expect people to have their salary paid into their Monzo account. Bit poor considering Elaine’s statements that Monzo’s ambition is “to be a primary bank for our customers, not just a secondary card”

Give them a minute

Was that really worth typing?

It’s not long launched as a bank there, nothing happens with pace.

Have patience.

I’m only here to give feedback to the people who actually matter, not to debate self‑appointed experts

This is a forum, not a feedback form. You will receive responses from other customers here. If you don’t like this aspect, you can leave.

Because my comment doesn’t feed into your self righteous motive, it doesn’t matter?

Ok.

What did Monzo say when you actually raised it to them? Or did you not bother and just do the typical internet thing and complain online to deaf ears hoping for sympathy?

Calm down — I’m here to give feedback to actual decision‑makers, not wrestle with forum heroes who mistake their loudness for competence.

Monzo , their product managers and CEO are heavily engaged with Irish customers on here which may differ to UK? . Unsure why your so motivated to contribute meaninglessly to every single thread? Any airfix clubs near you ? Might give you the outlet you need

But what did Monzo say when you asked them? Or didn’t you ask them?

They have had multiple feedback tools for early adopters including a “why did you not proceed with your application” survey. All responded to, no response

Usually, 3-6 months salary paid in (not sure if you folks have bacs or similar) and they can automatically detect income vs outgoings and make decisions on eligibility from there.

Like here, people who pay themselves from Monzo business accounts to personal, their income sometimes doesn’t get recognised, but having it paid into another bank account for a few months and credit options become available.

Monzo can be as much a mystery as it can be a great experience.

If you’re paid directly to Monzo then they know about your salary. The application isn’t broken.

Having a tantrum isn’t going to get you an overdraft.

Rude, people here offer help and suggestions

I was being obtuse so it was warranted :joy:

Sometimes text is misunderstood, but I take your point.

Hi @djorl!

Mary here - Product Manager in Borrowing. Thank you for the feedback - it’s something that’s on our radar :folded_hands:

To offer an overdraft we need to see a consistent pattern of regular income over a number of months. We’re still relatively new in Ireland, so a lot of customers won’t have built up that history with us yet - but as more people start using Monzo as their main account and build an income history, we want to make sure we can use that to verify their income.
