The fact that i typed monzo fraud help number and the same number as the fraudster came up and i dont own a barclays account says it all they told me to make transactions in order to activiate the new account i dont need to justifyy myself to u i posted my matter for others with similar experiences not to me made to feel worse about it
Itâs easy to say all of this in hindsight but I can understand in the moment, when thereâs a sense of emergency, that some people miss things like little logos.
Otherwise youâd question why Monzo donât move the money themselves. There is no need for them to ask a customer to move money when they have access to do this.
I waa also workingnfrom home and have had fraudulent activities on my monzo card prior to this a week ago and was reissued a new card so to receive a call from monzo fraudster using monzos number didnt make me suspicious as they pressured me in to believing my account was not safe
Thatâs what theyâre good at unfortunately
Hopefully you get your money back and you can put all of this behind you.
I am sorry, I didnât mean to upset you, but everything I pointed out will also help others.
As always why would a bank ask you too early money they can do this themselves and Caller ID can be spoofed, if in doubt, end the call and call your bank yourself from a different line.
Even after countless adverts, warnings in app, in the post and everywhere stating banks will NEVER ask you to move money to a different accountâŠ
Just got a text purporting to be from Monzo saying my account has been deactivated due to security reasons and to click on a link to reactivateâŠneedless to say I wonâtâŠthe no I got texted from in case anyone else gets it is +447309194520
Call the number, as it may go straight to voicemail and give you the network provider.
Report the scam text to the Police and the Network Provider.
Help shut them downâŠ
a can acces main accont I donât way donât give me any reason cana have help pls
This is verging on victim blaming. The criminals behind these types of frauds are masters at manipulating people and they particularly target those who are vulnerable in some way. Itâs easy to blame the victims for âfalling for this nonsenseâ when you come from a position of knowing better but sadly a lot of people donât. It shouldnât be entirely on the banks to educate people - we should teach this stuff in schools from a young age.
Very stressful situation to be in, and we can sympathize 100%. Hopefully Monzo helps ASAP. I know in hindsight you would have had alarm bells ringing about this! I am super careful when anyone rings me about bank accounts. I know that they would never ring me for anythingâŠBut as others have said, their extremely clever and manipulating, and can catch you unaware. Please be care
Contact Monzo in app but youâll need to give them more detail than what you have here.
Can you tell me if you got your money back? I was just scammed yesterday out of ÂŁ9000
He made me believe my bank account was in danger and I transferred the money to my ânew accountâ but in fact it was theres. Iâm so lost in what to do. Can you help me please
Just do what I do for all these scams, tell them I donât drive/donât have a license/ donât bank with so and so/ donât have a computer yada yada. Funny how quickly the line goes dead lol.
I do sympathise if you get scammed though, it could be a new one you are not aware of yet and they are so good at convincing you they are the real deal.
I hope it all works out for you.
Nobody can tell you this with certainty because cases are complex and every one is unique. It will be hard but youâve just got to be patient and wait for monzo to conclude their investigation.
Good luck
Hi I received my money back because i outlined everything that happened with lots of screen shots and explained how i challenged the fraudster by questions and how they outsmarted me.
