New tool for bill splitting: Tricount (from Bunq)

Bunq has launched a standalone tool for bill splitting: Tricount.
I don’t see a pricing section, so I assume it’s more of a marketing tool for the neobank than a standalone product.
Smart move in a time where things like Splitwise are limiting the freemium version (and are quite pricy for folks using them 1-2 times a year).

Is anyone using Monzo Split? (formerly shared tabs)
How good are these - do they remove the need for external tools? (I’m not a customer, so no experience with those)

If you’re splitting with a monzo customer it’s seamless. External customers I’ve no experience of.

Wouldn’t call this standalone, bunq integration is very heavily built into the app and it does upsell cards.

I thought Tricount has been a thing for years, no?

That’s possible, yes! Anyone any idea how long it’s been around?

I started hearing a lot about it in recent months, so first assumed it was relatively new.

@LordRec is the Bunq integration a nuisance of you’re not a customer?

It’s certainly isn’t non-intrusive. I do have a Bunq account though so :')

Yes, Bunq bought them back in 2022 and made the service completely free to increase engagement. Only just heard of Tricount from my incredibly frugal friend. I think there’s been some noises about it as Bunq is eyeing UK market.
