Natwest Chat

You should be able to back that up to Google/iCloud/whatever nowadays, though?

I would recommend using Authy over Google authenticator, I will be with passkeys now it’s not really needed as much. Microsoft Authentication is a bit of a pain after you reset. If you set up a recovery account it’s a bit easier. However you still have to re-scan the QR codes, especially for Work accounts with personal accounts. You just need to re-enter the password again

I keep seeing people say online that Microsoft personal accounts support passkeys however, I cannot find where I would even set that up. To be fair, though, google didn’t exactly make it front and centre.

Almost 48 hours later and I still get the below…

Bit weird that this seems to be impacted by weekends/bank holidays, but ultimately I’m sure it will be fine once I’m in.

No: NatWest, RBS, and Ulster on the same device.

Would you consider NatWest good enough to fully move over from monzo?

The app is generally one of the best for a legacy bank, other than their batch processing that takes it offline for about an hour every night.

I did for a while. It’s probably the closest to a fintech from a legacy bank that i can think of.

Slightly poor (capped deposit) savings rates and low offers on the packaged accounts keep me elsewhere for now but likely I’ll return one day. Still got a dormant account I’ve had for years.

Edit: Noted that the cap is the issue not the rate.

Their Digital Regular Saver is a damn good regular saver

I should’ve been clearer, unrestricted deposit savings. I agree 6% is a superb rate.

Mine is 6% and on their website it’s advertised as 6%. Is there a secret 7% account somewhere?

It’s 6. Corrected my post. I was thinking FD

The banking app is quite good for a legacy bank and they are currently working on improvements to both the app and their internet banking website.

Certainly compared to some legacy banks, they have some good features and things are well presented and laid out.

Like all legacy banks once you start using them all the time, you can see where somethings are more clunky and old school.

NatWest use batch processing for much of their operations, so while you will get card transactions showing up and the total balance changes. You won’t see a running total till it’s been processed overnight. It can shift the order of transactions so income is first, followed by outgoings.

I’ve had an account with them for over 10 years and still use their rewards credit card. They are a good bank or at least in my experience they have been.

I agree the bank’s app is good for a legacy bank. One thing that I had an issue with recently is statements. You can only generate a statement-lite (transactions list, no name/address) pdf in app. It’s not a proper statement and I needed to use online banking to get one.

The NatWest and RBS app icons have been updated to remove that awful double square effect they had (before and after of the NatWest one to compare). Looks so much better now.

God I still absolutely hate the 3D blocks logo after all these years.

I know we’ve done this before, but a flat, white version to sit alongside the RBS logo would be much much better.

Looks a lot better now. Not really sure why they ever thought the previous icon looked good.

Now they just need to fix their Natwest cards…

Hands off those cards!

But Ulster forgotten :frowning:
