Nationwide Chat

Depending on who it’s payable to, you might need to pop into a branch

Me too.. keeping Nationwide open solely for future payouts

Nicely done.

Literally use my current account to pay the minimum on my balance transfer every month :grimacing:

I think I can top that… got my text saying £50 had been paid into my FlexPlus account… I opened it on Monday.

I did that one yesterday. Definitely feels like they already know what the answers to their questions are going to be!

One day I’ll stop opening accounts :joy:

Just got the credit card. Was curious to see what they would over me with the soft search. It was my highest limit so went with it. How long does it take to appear in the app?

Just done that one and been as negative as I possibly could about card readers.

Eligibility checker is offering me £1,400 which would be my lowest limit by miles.

I think I have a bit too much available credit to be honest.

Starting low is OK if they increase it, but I don’t think Nationwide do. That may change in time as Vrgin do increase by quite a bit.

Just signed up for Member Voice specifically to have a moan about the card reader!

I only just signed up too!
Let’s moan en masse!

I’d happily come back to the credit card but you can’t have any of the 0% offers if you’ve closed one within a year.

One increase in 8 years, and then only by £650

One increase in six months from Vrgin and they almost doubled what was a reasonable limit to begin with. And if you add in the cashback card I applied for within that six month window, they’ve basically tripled my limit in about six months.

I was surprised to see another 18 months at 0% on mine. I should look more often!

Have you requested increases and had them denied or are you relying on them offering an increase?

The latter.

It’s set for auto-increase, however, it has not been my main card for many a year now.

It’s only used to pay my mobile phone bill each month now.

They declined to increase mine several times in a 24 months period but instead managed to reduce it twice for no reason. I was using their card religiously as I had the intro rates going. I paid it off and closed it.
I am now eligible for fresh offers despite a letter on closing the other one saying I would never get 0% offers again.

I will consider them in the future when looking to transfer a balance, probably in 15 months.

My children have teenager Nationwide Accounts. When my daughter first got hers she signed into the app using the card reader, added her card to Google Pay, and then forgot about it.

Forward wind six months and I bought something on her behalf when we were out and she wanted to pay me back…

As it was the first transfer she’d made she needed to use the card reader.
But she couldn’t remember her PIN.
There’s no way in the app to either see your PIN or request a reminder, so she had to log in to internet banking. Thankfully I made her keep a note of all the rest of her login details.
In internet banking we requested a PIN reminder by post, the only option.
A week later her PIN reminder arrived and we were able to go through the card reader process again so she could transfer me £9.99!
(She has kept a note of her PIN this time.)

It is archaic and less secure than her fingerprint. It also took over a week just to transfer some money!

Yes she should have remembered her PIN, but even banks considered to be old school like Triodos have ditched their card reader and you can see your PIN in the app and make transfers knowing you’re never going to need that extra bit of plastic with you. I’d never feel completely comfortable relying on Nationwide as it is now.

Funnily enough this is pretty much the example I gave when filling in the survey above.
