Something I’d like to say that I’ve had in the back of my head but haven’t actually mentioned yet is that Monzo are hiring designers - 2 visual design places & a web design place (there’s a few others but… they’re not terribly relevant to this thread) - so things may be about to change over the next year - and you better believe that I’ve signed up for at least one of them
I must admit, with my general preference for Starling’s current UX* and the fact that they’re adding Post Office deposits, I am wobbling a bit… I love my Monzo card and I much prefer Monzo as a company (and their support and ethics are pretty much flawless too) and for now I’m being held back by this and how useful the targets in summary are - I’ll probably end up just using Starling for paying in and keep dealing with Monzo’s UX.

General preference for Starling’s current UX (used to prefer Monzo) but seriously who’s idea was that implementation of the FAB on Starling’s Android app? They had a decent way of showing transactions and, okay, sometimes the swipe direction got confused but that could be tweaked and optimised - but this button? What is that, it’s horrible. FAB’s can be nice for certain things (I use them all the time for the odd job) but it just adds a weirdly annoying layer of friction between the home screen and seeing my transactions for me.
