Meet Pavel
Hi all, I’m Pavel, and I’ve been at Monzo for almost 5 years. I lead product for Monzo Business Europe, and a lot of my day-to-day involves speaking with small businesses across different markets to understand their unique needs. I’ve been working with an amazing team of researchers, designers, and engineers to build the best small business bank account for each country - starting with Ireland!
Originally from Bulgaria, I studied and lived in Shanghai (I still speak Mandarin, though it’s a little rusty!) and spent time in New York before moving to London seven years ago. Before Monzo, I worked at American Express. I’m a self-confessed geek for all things personal finance, from savings optimisation to investing. Outside of work, I love travelling and hiking - climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is a proud highlight!
My fun fact (or at least I think it’s fun) is that I’ve got over 8 Monzo cards!
Reddit: Why haven’t you prioritised multi-currency support? This feels like such a glaring missing table-stake feature. I’ve had to move over to Revolut for this (before they were even a bank).
With Making Tax Digital for Income Tax coming into effect on 6 April, most freelancers — myself included — are now subject to the new requirements. As a long-standing Monzo Business account holder, I’ve been given assurances that this will be handled, but so far I’ve only been able to register my interest with no further detail on what’s actually being offered.
Could you provide a full breakdown of what Monzo Business will be delivering for MTD compliance — specifically what’s included, how it works, and why I wouldn’t need any third-party software or additional services on top?
Why does Monzo support Tell me to close my business account And move my 150 thousand pounds to another non monzo bank as a “soultion” to opening a personal account?
Reddit: What is with the limitations on business accounts, I bank with Monzo as the main bank for my business and two businesses I’m a director of, I’ve just started working with a new business as a director and they can’t move to Monzo without me losing access to the business account due the to 3 company limit per user. However if I was with Barclays or any of the big high street banks, or Revolut for that matter I could have as many business accounts as I need.
This is a great question - echoed. Not sure how it’s business related but yes, I’d upgrade my Monzo if it had a VPN sub (subject to it being a no logs VPN with other various security features).
I’d even open up a business account for one. I mean, I don’t have a business, but I’d sure start one
