My Ukrainian friend came to UK and opened a Monzo account.
He got a text recently saying RM Parcel to collect, pay £1 fee… and link… was a scam of course but he was expecting a parcel (from Ukraine) and clicked on link and paid.
Within minutes three transactions total around £1500 taken from his account from a bank in Vietnam.
He sent emails to Monzo and was really scared as it was all the money he had in the world!
Monzo kept him informed at every step of the way, even called him, and within 5 days or so he was refunded in full.
On his behalf I’d like to say a grateful thanks (his English isn’t great). To be honest I am also quite impressed by Monzo’s handling of this.
