Monzo Plus - what would you like to see?

Features I’d benefit or would like myself. From monzo as a whole. Not necessarily monzo plus.
Breakdown cover.
Home insurance.
Phone insurance.
Credit card.
Savers account for my young child.
Metal card would be nice.
Phone or car financing would be nice too directly through monzo.

If you have monzo plus and then cancel after a bit, do you keep the custom monzo.me username or would you need to revert back to the previous one?
Is your previous one reserved/still usable?

Don’t think this is for me but I like that you’re looking at other avenues to generate income.

I believe you’re locked into a 12 month contract :face_vomiting:

£6 a month… for nothing. Hahaha. :joy:

This is April fools isnt it?

If that’s the case I’d be a bit miffed if I lost certain things after paying £36.

Now this I can see having a cost due to buying numbers from a card issuer (probably Mastercard). I’d be OK paying a small amount for just this so I can use cards for more ropey looking websites lol

I’m inclined to agree with @Christophorus, and was about to post the same.

If I’m signing up to a 12 month £36 contract, I’d want to keep whatever I have.

At the very least, I’d want to keep the card until it expired… And I can imagine the custom URL becoming unusable could cause issues for people who then try and pay it once you’ve stopped the subscription.

Appreciate that’s not how product subscriptions work (where you get to keep some of the perks once you’ve stopped paying), but definitely something to consider…

So, serious question. It seems you’ve already made a deal with Zurich for travel insurance but haven’t disclosed the cost. How much is this on top of the base £6/month? And how much is travel money on top of that?

If I could sign up for one month for £3 and then just keep the card (and it still be functional), I’d be OK with that

This is the key thing for me so far. I currently have a Nationwide Flex Plus account for the mobile phone and travel insurance. If Monzo can offer be better for less (stripping out the stuff I don’t use) then I’d probably be in…

… I’d need to find the button on Android first though.

Ha, yeah, in that situation I can see why they’d stop the card from working.

But if you commit to a 12 month contract, that’s a little different, and you’ll have paid £36 (or £72), and not have anything to show for it at the end.

Would be a nice touch (and dare I say, potentially an opportunity for people to try it for a year), if you kept the card at the end of it.

Sorry if this sounds rude as its not meant to be, but £3 for what you are offering is ridiculous. To charge £6 for this is criminal.

I would easily jump on board if all Monzo plus customers had access to a free £500 overdraft, something like that would make this price slightly more reasonable.

Its a bit like pick and mix though - I have no interest in a free overdraft , my car is 2 years old so no interest in RAC breakdown , holiday insurance yes , phone insurance yes , but other grouped benefits as a package I wouldn’t use half of them

:x: You’ll get a new Monzo Plus card - Don’t need one, I use Android Pay mostly.
:x: A custom Monzo.me link - I already have one and got it for free.
:x: Exclusive access to Monzo Plus events - I don’t live in the London.
:x: Swag as standard - I’ve got a stack of Monzo stickers, what else is provided?

What would I be getting for £36/£72 if I signed up now?

This makes me worry about the finances of the company - it is a blatant money grab offering nothing of substance in return.

The swag as standard is so vague. If it’s at events only, again it means nothing unless you live in or near London. Even so, I can’t see how it justifies £72 a year unless they’re giving you literal clothes.

Its not compulsory… yet

Discounted subscriptions that I can add and remove on the fly. Apple Music, Spotify, Audible, Shadow PC, Netflix etc

A custom card, add / remove CVV number, name, expiry date to suit my own security needs.

Smaller overdraft charges

Better interest rates on savings pots.

Cash back on all purchases / subscriptions / Direct Debits

Priority customer care.

Pro-level / Advance tools available within the app (toggle on and off within settings)

And for the investors, the card has got to keep the word “investor” on the card.

This has to be different from other banks. And it has to feel like you’re getting a lot for your money, please please please don’t go down the Revolut model where Monzo starts to feel desperate.

The swag and events aren’t something that interests me at all. I’m northern, so I’m not coming to any events any time soon.

Really helpful feedback! :raised_hands:

You are still keeping free cash withdrawals up to the current free tier limit right? Removing that would make me switch back to a normal bank
