Monzo Labs: Connected Credit Cards

My 3 primary cards are Amex, Tandem and Amazon NewDay - none of which are supported :frowning:

Sainsburys Bank have an Open Banking API available… As a novice - why isn’t Sainsburys available to connect too?

Because TrueLayer don’t support it yet is the simplest explanation.

Will there be an update soon on progress and next steps? Specifically showing transactions in app or paying off the balance?

Still been having issues with Nationwide and I’ve been trying 3 times a week :frowning: If I spam some incorrect credentials into a different account type (eg Lloyds) I get the “incorrect credentials” message, as expected. If I attempt to login with my correct credentials (or spam) Nationwide, it’ll attempt to connect for 10 mins before erroring, or hang on “connected” for 30 mins before giving up. Talking to my mates who work at another company implementing Truelayer, they’re surprised that any of their APIs work…

I’ve tried on wifi and mobile data, uninstalling and reinstalling, I’ve tried on a mate’s monzo account with spam credentials, nothing connects to Nationwide. I’m 99% sure it’s a serverside thing for that connector.

Can anyone replicate this?

  1. Select “nationwide” from the credit card connectors list
  2. Enter random text/numbers in the fields to pass validation
  3. Hit ok. After 20 seconds at most you should get a red “incorrect credentials” message, instead it’ll hang

:frowning:

Do you know what cards already have this info within Monzo? I know Amex does, just wondered if there are any others?

Ah okay. I thought I saw a screenshot of some transactions from an American Express. I must of dreamt it!

Might have been a mock-up or prototype, but no, there’s no current support

I think there was some internal staff testing as the first CC integration but the connection was too intermittent to give a solid user experience if I recall correctly.

:soon:™ I like the use of ™
100% stealing this

Just added my HSBC card and it appears fine. Couldn’t add my Halifax card as I’m an idiot and have to wait five days for them to send out a security reset code (which is utterly farcical)

I’d like to add my MBNA and AMEX cards are they are due to be supported?

As I said above…

Will the list of credit cards that can be viewed continue to grow or is what we’ve got all we are having?

I’d love to see MBNA and jaja listed.

Is this IOS only and if so, it may be an idea to add this to the headline. I’m on Android and searching desperately for this and cant see it in my app.

The feature has been removed from Labs, and for the moment (until a proper flow is added to the app), this is the solution:

If I select Nationwide, I just get a blank white screen with a spinner that eventually bails out to the home screen.

Choosing Barclaycard got me to the permission screen. The second time it led to a completely black screen without even a spinner, but after about a minute the permission screen popped up again.

So I guess I can get through to Truelayer, but for whatever reason Nationwide is broken (more than the others).

I do not like the fact that when I go to add my RBS credit card it asks me for my full login info. Rbs has said never to give the full details to anyone. Can this be fixed?

They can’t get access without the log in details

I dont give my full details on the rbs login when online banking. Why should this be any different? It seems a hell of a lot less secure

It’s pretty standard for screen scraping services to require full login details.

If you don’t want to share them ( I don’t blame you) wait until the APIs are implemented to see how authentication is handled.
