Hey all, quick update.
We’re in the process of taking this feature out of Monzo Labs. This is mostly to make it easier to test the feature with more people, without the complexity that comes from it also being in Labs.
We know there are still issues with the feature as it currently stands, and functionality that should be built next. Taking the feature out of Labs doesn’t mean we think it is done!
Here’s our plan for taking us out of Labs:
- Enable people to add and remove cards themselves without needing to toggle the feature on/off via Labs (that was used as a shortcut to start testing sooner)
- This will be available from iOS 2.47.0 and Android 2.46.0
- Make sure everyone who has tested the feature so far has access to it.
- Remove the ability to turn the feature on and off via Labs.
- Enable the feature for a small random percentage of users, so we can get some feedback from people who aren’t digging for the feature.
- In the meantime, enable the feature for anyone that asks.
What will people who have connected cards see?
- If you currently have cards connected, they’ll stay connected
- If you’ve ever enabled the feature in Labs, you’ll see a new button in the Account Tab to connect to any of the providers that we support
- If you’ve never enabled the feature in Labs, you’ll need to contact support to try it out
What is stopping us releasing the feature to everyone?
The main issue we need to fix before we make the feature available to all is when people get stuck at the end of the connection flow when they ought to be redirected back to Monzo. It seems to only affect Android users, and we’re working with TrueLayer to fix it.
What are we going to build next?
In terms of functionality, the next thing we’re building is a basic list of transactions, to start getting internal feedback on the data quality. For now, your credit card transactions will be kept very separate from your monzo transactions, and will initially be a basic un-enriched list. We’ll improve this over time.
Thanks again to everyone who has tested this so far, shared feedback, and reported issues - we couldn’t have done this without you!
