I imagine you’ll get all that in their financial report end of the year.

It was £270m annualised run-rate revenue in June 2022 so a significant uptick since then which is good to see.

Probably helped by growing deposit base and a high interest rate environment.

If I was a business I would IPO in a bull market.

It’s still very bearish for 2023.

If we get a crash like 2000/2008 in 2023 then no chance for a few years.

I think 2023 would be perfect for Monzo, there is no IPO’s at the moment so no competition. Not to mention the numbers are going to be magnificent. I would time the IPO to happen when the numbers are released for 2023

I know it’s tongue in cheek, but I’m not sure if I follow the logic. Surely this is good news that means Monzo is going to be worth more, so its valuation would be higher and any potential suitors would need deep pockets?

Or am I overreading a throwaway comment (again)?

Does anyone know the lead time for IPOs? I thought they were 12month+, public affairs - in which case we’d already know about it. And Monzo and its agents would be talking it up and prepping the market for a sale.

(I’ve no real frame of reference here, so happy to be corrected - would be good to see some timelines from previous IPOs).

It’s a bit tongue in cheek, a bit not. Either way Monzo or its investors will do well out of this report.

It’s a good news story for them and a great achievement.

The numbers aren’t magnificent, and tech companies that are not making money have been hugely overvalued. I’d say it’ll just keep doing what it’s doing and wait a couple of years.

IPO would just crater. There’s a reason why no business is atm.

You want big money not to be cautious about opening the purse strings. You want them in a chucking money in all directions mood.

As for retail they have no disposal income to chuck into the casino.

I just realised/remembered that TS said in a podcast that their annual revenue run rate was £350m in november 2022 Monzo in the media - #4257 by rarther

And by december 2022 it was £440m according to this release. So Monzo grew its revenue (run rate) by over 25% in a month (or two to be a pessimist, if he was talking about end of october figures and these are end of december figures).

So if they are growing revenue at 10-20% a month then are they already at £500m run rate by end of jan? Will that be over a £1 billion in the next 8-10 months?

These are really rocket ship metrics coming out of Monzo at the moment.

Could this mostly be increases in the base rate? Didn’t BoE hike by 75 basis points in December? Guesstimating, but if they have about £6bn or so in deposits that’s a fair part of the increase?

Edit: 2.25% in October to 3.5% in December

Any idea when we might hear more about the new investment product(s) being designed @TheoGibson ?

Before you say it… I assume it’s not actually ‘soon’ as the forum would have had plenty of tip offs that something was around the corner…?

Afraid there’s nothing I can share. If you want an update you’ll be able to get one by applying here.
