Monzo Cash ISAs 2020/21 thread

Mine is also dropping! :pensive: I suppose it was too good to be true, though Coventry hasnā€™t changed my rate on ages and ages.

Mineā€™s a flexible ISA, so Iā€™ll just shift to Marcus while their rate is still good, then back at the end of the year

All my cash is doing something.

ISA, fixed rate bonds, premium bonds, easy access savings, regular savers.

Had planned to venture into the investement world with Vanguard LS60, however, the effects of the coronavirus on the stock market stopped me in my tracks. I am fairly risk-averse.

Very little money in current accounts now. Most is earning something

Only my Monzo current account and regular pots are not.

Fortunate to still have 1.15% on a couple of Investec pots.

My best, at the moment, is a 1.8% one year fixed bond with Metro Bank :+1:

Yes! Everything Iā€™ve put in since mid-March is doing very well.

If I had been able to invest the Ā£10k in January, I would have lost Ā£1400 by April (when tax year started and would have actually been able to invest. The thought of losing that much money at the start put me off. No-one could predict when the fall would stop and the re-emergence begin.

To be safe, I threw it in an ISA at 1.46%, then moved it from there yesterday to Post Office at 1.30% fixed for a year, after Coventry BS announced reduction to 0.81%

May take another look next April.

But thatā€™s only relevant if you need the money in the near-term, in which case you shouldnā€™t be considering investing.

If youā€™re investing over a decade or more itā€™s likely to be irrelevant.

I know. Guess past experience of trying to make decent money, and failing, stops me from taking the plunge.

I had talked myself into doing it this year, until Covid-19 hit :man_shrugging:

All comments noted, and gratefully received.

Thanks for taking the trouble to assist and advise.

Appreciated @Eden. :+1:

Let us know

No chance you are accidentally looking at your joint account?

Only have a personal account, no joint to worry about

So you can only have one cash isa running

Thatā€™s a bit surprising. I thought there had been talk on the forum of people having more than one.

Were you just curious or is there a problem with your existing cash ISA that made you want to open a second one?

I see the point of having different forms of cash ISAs (easy access and fixed term) but donā€™t really see the point of having more than one easy access cash ISA (unless youā€™ve crossed the Ā£85k FSCS threshold).

To achieve higher rate on easy access cash ISA it seems preferable to me to transfer existing cash ISA to a new one rather than operate more than one. So in my mind its a bigger issue that Monzo doesnā€™t support transfers between ISAs within its marketplace (as far as I know) than it is that they donā€™t allow holding more than one.

Curious, and wanted to see the options, Likelihood this year Iā€™ll put more in the S&S ISAs, market low, if there is a recovery, then itā€™ll be good returns

it was a theoretical discussion ā€¦ about how to differentiate between ISAs if you had two and you wanted to transfer one out ā€¦seems you canā€™t have two

Anyone know when Monzo stopped offering the flexible ISA?

Not monzo, but their partners. Itā€™s been on and off from time to time. Depends if the partners in question are after more deposits or not.

Lots of deals vanished lately across the market. And types and number of accounts offered through monzo is currently less, than it was before.
