Monzo 2026 Wish List

It’s a bit late for Christmas lists, but here’s my 2026 Monzo wish list:

  1. Bring search to Flex (and connected accounts)

  2. Iterate on Trends - finish all the stuff that was never done (like variable salary periods such as 4 weekly), bring back left-to-spend, reset the period when you get paid…

  3. Automate our salaries! Automatic get paid early and salary sorter. For paid customers if you’re counting the pennies…

  4. Stop the lottery gimmicks. Bills back and double salary are enough. But 1pc on current account and pots balances would be better.

  5. Fix pots! Pots have never been the same since the savings crowd came in and ruined them :-((. Here are three ideas:

    1. Pots as budgeting tools. That means either making them all savings pots, or otherwise finding a way for users to use them to budget - like letting users pay bills and schedule withdrawals from (multiple) savings pots. If profit is the motivation then roll this out to paid customers only.

    2. Overdraft pot. Let a user specify a pot to act as an overdraft - so you can be overdrawn by the value in that pot without paying interest.

    3. Pay from pots. Bring over the US functionality that let’s you specify what pot a debit card transaction will come from (set a category or a merchant - and a pot - and the funds automagically come from there.

  6. Forward money. Got an incoming transaction for £8.99? Tap it to send that exact value to a pot or an external account. Sent £129? Tap on the outbound transaction and select a pot or connected account to pull £129 from.

  7. Online banking. Needed to fully become Europe’s premier bank.

  8. Fix and expand exports. It’s not right that Google Sheet exports are broken when they’re charged for. Fix that. Expand to other platforms. Auto download CSV/PDF statements to Google Drive etc monthly. Fix the time out issues so that you can export your whole Monzo transaction history by csv.

  9. Net worth view - allow users to add savings and investment values, debts etc to create a total net worth figure trackable over time.

  10. Fix support. Seriously, it’s broken and just not good enough. With the COO and CEO turning over, can we have someone with some funding, energy and a relentless customer focus to fix things? Poach an Octopus Energy person if that’d help…

There we go. That’s the list.

Please don’t make it four years - I really don’t want to have to found another fintech…

Now, what’s on the community’s top 10 lists for 2026? :eyes:

Unfortunately I feel like with each update Monzo appeals less to me.

The graphics/illustrations used in the app feel a bit cheap and childish, the “features” are all a bit gimmicky and the “perks” are clearly aimed at a younger (than me) audience.

I doubt they’re going to change any of that, or the constant nagging/advertising for me to upgrade or refer a friend whenever I try and do anything.

My only hope is that Starling start to bring some new features/products and Revolut get their licence soon and bring out their credit offerings which will be some healthy competition for Monzo

The visuals have either matured since first refreshed or I’ve been broken :joy:

Either way, I’d quite like to see a Premier tier - something for the mass affluent with one call, one touch customer service, calmer Monzo branding - or a First Direct equivalent to Monzo’s HSBC that is branded differently but focuses on more financially mature excellence. Which reminds me, wasn’t 11:FS meant to be building just that?

This would be a good start even if optional.

I’d like to see:

  • Implementation of a Savings/Pots/Stash tab at the bottom of the screen.
  • Stick Trends in the top right where Summary used to live.
  • Move all the Extra/Perks/Max/Cashback stuff in a Rewards/Benefits tab.
  • Cards tile on the Home Screen doesn’t need to exist imo, make the card button on the account tile a card hub.
  • Bring Spotlight as a tile, but allowing you to choose one that stands out best for you, or bring back a Left to spend tile we can place where we like

I’d also love a white Max metal card :folded_hands:t3:

I don’t mind the branding but definitely agree on everything else you’ve said. I’d like them to focus some attention on the core banking, they could start doing merchant logo improvements again to start with!

This is a community wish, can something be done about the overly sensitive automated flagging.

We’re all adults here, can’t it just be disabled and rely on the community to flag spam/offensive posts?

I feel it does help having the bot, it just needs tweaking some more.

Tried this months and months back. A lot of us left because nothing was done. :joy:

They get me a Senior Railcard, Uber One and I do like Greggs muffins :slightly_smiling_face:

I wish Monzo would do a non flex credit card. Just like a normal credit card or maybe a cashback card like the Lloyds Ultra!

I know people love the flex card and I love the idea too and hopefully when I am eligible one day I will get it but I think a normal / reward credit card could be nice to see from Monzo

Flex is a “normal” credit card, you can set it to pay off in full at the end of the month like any other credit card. It just has the added benefit that you can spread purchases over 3 months interest free

This is mine.

Universal search: it might be coming. It might not.

Fix merchant data: fix it and make the experience better for those that submit.

Sort pots out: let me choose the time period for my safety net pot. A credit card pot. A net worth pot that aggregates all accounts and mortgage plus lets me add others manually

Joint accounts: keep making improvements.

Labs: let us test stuff again.

Connected accounts: add more. Bake connected accounts into other areas of the app such as Savings/investments.

Can you expand a bit on this? I’m trying to square a net worth view with it being a pot!

The current situation screams ABANDONWARE which isn’t a good look for a bank.

It might “only” be names and logos but these things come with a psychological halo effect. If they’re this uncaring about one feature, sadly this bleeds into users’ lack of confidence that they care about what really matters - keeping your money safe and protected.

Bring back the Carousel! and the blue monzo plus card

Something along the lines of Safety Net when you first set up there’s a bit of mechanics there. It could aggregate all your worth and display it in the pot area. Ability to add in manual amounts and name them for those accounts that don’t support open banking. I’m sure Monzo can add a bit of pizazz to it as well. I’m thinking graphs :chart_increasing: and future worth as your mortgage comes down for example.

In a similar vein to this, I’d like to see a curve like physical card that we could assign our virtual cards to.

Or even better, let’s us assign any Monzo card (think flex or joint), as well as the cards for any connected account.

I’d like to see the following:

Daily Balance, if you’ve used HSBC or first direct, you see a balance for each day.

Better statements, one statement, not all the pot transfers.

Ability to hide / show payments from pots. I don’t always need to see all the direct debits / standing orders.

Fully functioning web banking.

Simplify the app, some options could be moved away from the main screen.

Suspect universal search when shipped wil feel very AI Chat bot. It also might be how trends fills out, ask the questions in natural language and get decent insights into habits and spends, not the crud Starling have shipped, but something really useful.

I think more wealth tools will be good, have investments and pension here, and want it a bit easier to see what my state of play is, especially as it’s getting closer by the minute till for example I can cash out part of the pension.

junior S&S ISAs would be nice.

Think UI is fine, but there will need to be something done as more appears, does tiles work? Does the big list work in a world of mortgages?

Support has been fine for me, so I don’t feel the pain and can’t comment.

I’m very much here for this.

An Industry-first that does dynamic, AI generated, Trends-esque visuals, with text-based interrogation would be :fire:
