Yes, but no timescale for it. It may happen quickly, slowly, very slowly (or even, possibly, not at all).

I think it would be useful for U16 accounts to be able to send money requests (at least to the linked parent account). I sometimes forget to send my daughter’s chore money, and it would be handy if she could send me a request for the right amount instead.

Yeah but the same can be said for normal current accounts, doesn’t necessarily mean its a bad idea - requesting in the App is admittedly quite useful and can be paid and closed out in like 2 clicks or something

Also gives the child an insight into other features that a full Monzo account has should they choose to open an adult account down the line, creates familiarity which isn’t a bad thing if you want to retain customers.

That’s what she did today. It works, obviously, but it would be nicer to do it in the app. We switched the kids from Rooster accounts to Monzo U16s a few months back, and it it one thing we’re missing from Rooster (where she could request the money, or even mark a pre-set chore as complete which would then send me a notification to approve and then get the money instantly).

And how annoying is it going to be when the child (not necessarily yours) is pinging every 5 mins because they want more money.

Whether it’s an app notification or text message. You’ll get pings regardless.

Or worse, perhaps you’ll get twice as many when there is the option in app as well :laughing:

My kids aren’t old enough for any of this yet, so Monzo, please build all of the above stuff in so I don’t have to suffer when the time comes :smiley:

Hi,

I have created a child’s account under my Monzo, it looks good and works for them… However only I can see the account.

What would be really helpful is if I could ā€œshareā€ the account with my wife/his mum so we can both see what he is up to, even if it’s a limited view.

Maybe it’s already on the app but I couldn’t find a way.

It’s not on the app, you’ve not missed it, it’s not possible yet.

Hi can my son use his under 16s account/card in Poland?

What do the terms and conditions of the account say?

My daughter turned 16 today and wants to open a Monzo 16-17 account. She already uses the Monzo app with an under 16 linked to my account.

We can’t see any option to apply for a new account in the Monzo app. If she logs out and chooses ā€˜I’m new to Monzo’ she enters her email and is logged back into her under 16s account.

I wondered if I have to close the under 16s account first, but I don’t see anyway to do that either!

Does anybody know what I’m doing wrong?

Someone else asked this a while back. It would seem Monzo haven’t build this flow yet so you have to contact them :see_no_evil: I wouldn’t close your account without speaking to them first.

While one of my kids has a 16-17 account and one has an Under 16 account, I’ve personally not been through the ā€˜upgrade from Under 16 to 16-17 yo account’ flow. If there is one…

The in-app Help section states:

There doesn’t seem to be a simple upgrade path from one to the other so you’ll have to open a new 16-17 yo account. But I suspect that trying to use the same email address for both the existing U16 account and a new 16-17 yo account will cause login problems.

I’d recommend contacting support to discuss directly in-app. To do this from the :monzo: app home screen:

  • Tap on Help (top-right)
  • In the search bar, type ā€˜Contact support’
  • In the search results, look for ā€˜Contacting support’ and tap on it
  • Locate the link in the text saying ā€˜Tap here to get started’ and tap on it. This will take you through a few initial questions and should eventually take you into the in-app chat with :monzo: support

Thank you for your responses. I took your advice and contacted Monzo, who to their credit resolved the problem within an hour. They manually closed the under 16 account :+1:

Do we know how long the waitlist is at the moment?

Good afternoon I’m newish to Monzo and looking for the first card account for my 6 year old weighing up the options between kite rooster and Monzo is there any added benefits or reasons to pick Monzo over the other two? Also does Monzo have an app for my six-year-old one that’s locked down so she can view her balance and move stuff around and that’s about it mate for her iPad? I’d like to know more about the child’s app if there is one what features it has as this has not been covered and I can’t find any information on YouTube or on the main site itself. It just says at adult app for children.
