Meet the next generation: Monzo for Under 16s 🎉

I knew this would cause a problem. But I also know that I’ve got eighteen months or so for this to be someone else’s problem, and hopefully be ironed out before my son turns sixteen.

Any update on this? this is a real restriction for our family at the moment on managing our kids money

Can I install the Monzo app on a WiFi-only device, for example on my 7-yr-old’s “phone” (one of our old phones without a sim, just for limited games and stuff), so that he can track his money on his own device?

Of course.

You can install the app on any compatible device available through the app store. Internet access, whether via Wi-Fi or a SIM connection, is not a requirement.

However, keep in mind that you can only be logged in on one device at a time.

surely internet access is a requirement to use the app, otherwise it would never be able to talk to Monzo…

Oh it would be my “son’s” (under 16) account that would be logged in, not mine. Thanks!

Whether the internet is provided by wifi or sim doesn’t matter.

On the same platform? It used to be that you could be logged in at the same time using 1x iOS device and 1x Android device. Haven’t tried it for years though!

any release date yet?

Did you get an email to say it’s been released?

We’re a four parent family (two couples) - four adults, one child, equal time spent in both houses. It would be amazing if we could all see our child’s account, add money to it and see what he’s spending overall. Or even just link it to our joint account so both of us in our house could see it.

um no i don’t see any emails

I was being sarcastic.

No announcements = no product release.

The latest app (6.4.0) has snippets of new code in there which hint at a co-parenting feature :soon:

You had me confused for a second there, but I assume you mean step parents are involved? Anyway it seems reading the thread only one parent can monitor the kids account.

Fab news!

Don’t get too excited. It could still be a long, long way off :grimacing:
