Yes, I’m sceptical too. It’s all very carefully worded. The messages maybe be end-to-end encrypted, but I imagine Facebook will still be hoovering up data: who you’re talking to, when, etc.
So WhatsApp basically?

I gave up Facebook about 18 months ago now. Mark Z can make Facebook the most attractive product in the world, I’d never sign up again. Waste of my life.

Very as it’s not a new ‘Facebook’ he is saying they’ll encrypt the 'messaging platform…

Which means Facebook Messenger, Instagram DMs, and WhatsApp.

If I could get people who I talk to on Facebook to use literally anything else, I would delete it in a heartbeat.
They have proved time and time again that they clearly don’t care about Privacy. If they gave people proper privacy they wouldn’t make any money.
