This was actually a pleasant surprise for me today. I was expecting the second payment of a Flex transaction from Sunday 19th September, but presumably because it’s within 14 days the repayment gets punted to November.
Yup - all payments come out on the same day by design.
If your next payment day is within 14 days then the next payment for the individual transaction will fall in the following month.
This was more popular with customers during research - it also makes the process 1000 times simpler because it means customers can’t get in the situation where they’ve missed payments on one transaction but not on another.
So if I had 3 flex payments for 33.33 each that month but only had 99 in my account, it would fail all 3 flexed items, even though I have enough for 2?
Yes - but everything is done at the Flex account level so it doesn’t “count” as 3 missed payments - it counts as one missed payment (which you can catch up £99 of if you want).
If you have an overdraft, I’m presuming you could still pay your Flex payment from it?
Yup
Exactly why they’ve done it this way.
5th - £15 Flex
9th - £12.50 Flex
13th - £100 Flex
17th - £109 Flex
21st - £200 Flex
22nd - £22 Flex
27th - £84 Flex
vs
1st - £542 Flex
I think the more organised people would be the same.
I wouldn’t mind it that way if I could see that I owed Flex £542 for October, put that in a pot and be done.
There’s a clear breakdown - looks like this:
And multiple transactions will stack up under each payment date (sorry - couldn’t find an example with multiple plans).
FWIW - It wasn’t a uniform “I prefer this” (It never really is) but the majority preferred one payment date.
Not yet - I think we plan to have the breakdown on your Flex payment in the current account feed. Right now it has the category breakdown with multiple categories but not the individual purchases.
Can see a use case for having all the past payments broken down by purchase in one place as well but I don’t think it’s a priority right now. You can see the past payments at an individual transaction level already.
Are there more invites planned for this week? Or a bit deeper into October ?
Will let you know more tomorrow - latest plan is still this.
Okay thank you, I’m just very eager pha!
If you get me flex I’ll bung you some money from my limit, that’s how it works right
It’s our main focus at the moment - aiming for some time in November.
You weren’t meant to tell anyone about our deal.
Flex and virtual card is a dream combo.
But will it report on the google export? As Flex does but virtual cards don’t.
Ready for Christmas
I don’t think you can Flex a credit card payment. It’s only debit card payments made on your Monzo card, with some restrictions (I’m pretty sure that credit card bills are one of them).
Now, I’d love for it to work a bit like Curve Credit Flex and be able to work with transactions from linked credit cards… Maybe v2?
If you want Flex then you should be - If you join now I’d expect you may get Flex in December but no guarantees - Lots of people on the waitlist
No - there’s a number of exclusions we apply for transactions you’re allowed to Flex. One of these exclusions is we don’t allow you to pay off other debt (in the same way you shouldn’t be able to pay off one credit card with another credit card). Other exclusions include cash, crypto and investments.
