Oh no, this isn’t all bitcoin conspiracy theory related is it?
They’re worse than Linux users
Cool story bro, neither do I, but guess what Monzo Flex will be part of that too.
Yep precisely! If you compare it to tymit, which Monzo I’d say is very close in implementation to - they have a 16.3% APR.
But the app is janky and harder to use than Flex…. So…. I’ll use Monzo.
Dare I say it my Tymit app has been behaving for the last week. Jinxed it now no doubt.
Tymit defaults to pay off in one month’s time in full (like normal credit card). And one can switch to 3 months free. More than 3 have interest charges.
Monzo is 12 months by default, with interest, but can switch to less payments.
It would be nice that payments under £30 would be possible with flex card, but would default to pay off in full straight away or like in one payment. To act like a normal credit card. Many authorisations can be for small amounts ($2) or variable unknown amount (taxi) and settle for less or more than £30. It would inconvenient to not know and thus default to the debit card rather than flex one.
My credit card has a 10% APR and a 56 day interest free period, so I’d probably keep using that for larger offsetting anyway… For small amounts over a couple of months though it sounds quite convenient.
I feel stupid… what is the benefit of using Flex here? That is just a normal debit card transaction?
This is a good point - once there is a flex card so not via the debit card transaction - will you still be able to bill split? The above only works as you flex the transaction from your debit card.
Did any more invites get sent out this week? I’m still without, so assuming I’m not going to get it for a while now
No im still waiting too and applied for early access when it was announced. I was told i was number 53 on the waitlist but due to an error i didnt make the first roll out
I feel your pain
Admittedly, I score rather low for getting an early invite, especially as I hardly ever use the debit card. That, though, is because there’s no incentive for me to use it over a cashback credit card. Flex would most likely encourage me to use the debit card more, mainly for larger payments.
No need to assume. @TheoGibson said this a couple of days ago
I thought you had left?
They forgot to erase him
Update on this - we’ll almost certainly (>98% confidence) do another batch of 500 tomorrow or Friday (more likely tomorrow).
Sorry, been a busy start to the week after the business of last week!
Exactly, the AI version of me is still in the codebase. When @DillonV said I was Monzo personified nobody realised he meant literally
- bats eyelashes in your direction to be added to the list for invitees*
I found a new use case for Flex today that I hadn’t considered.
I needed to exchange some clothes but they could only refund me (which takes up to 5 working days) and then I had to re-pay and order again.
So I’ve technically paid double but with Flex I can lessen the financial strain and just pay it off early when my refund arrives in 5 days
I think that is one of Klarna’s main advert streams
