✅ Instant withdrawals from savings pots

This post makes me think I’m wrong

But I’m sure I didn’t make it up! I’ll keep looking…

Revolut offer the withdrawals instantly…

The lack of this feature is really annoying!

Sorry for bumping this old topic, but for the first time I’ve opened some instant access savings pots in Monzo. :tada:

I keep my main savings elsewhere, but there are things that I spend on once a year from Monzo (insurance, online services etc). I was using standard pots for this but thought that I’d use some savings pots for a few extra pennies.

Two big bits of feedback:

  • The next day withdrawal is a massive bummer. The point about Monzo is that it’s slick, modern and smooth. This isn’t good friction, it feels like bureaucracy. I don’t like it. :pensive:

  • The minimum deposit is annoying. I suppose I can understand that the savings banks don’t want hundreds of zero value pots on their balance sheet, but I’d really like there to be a more sensible and customer friendly option. For example, if there was a minimum aggregated balance of £5 across all savings pots from the same provider that would be cool.

In an ideal world, I’d also love to directly pay bills from savings pots, but if the immediate transfers thing is fixed I could live with this much more. (Bonus points though, for a button where you can transfer the exact amount of a transaction from a (savings) pot into the main account, meaning that I could quickly account for this type of infrequent transaction with a tap or two).

I understand the having to put money in to open one, I don’t know why you’d want a savings account at £0

But…

With the dance of having to close and open to get the better rate before it (eventually!) moves you, it’s annoying to have to put £10 in, £10 in, £10 in, while you’re waiting for the money back.

I withdrew some to pay for a radiator (living life on the edge here) but did it Friday evening so now it’s been sat at the top of my feed since then, which takes one of my vital 3 preview spots on the new design.

Here’s my use case:

It’s January and I’m doing some financial planning for the year.

I want to take a bill due next January and set aside a few quid every month in a savings pot.

I’d rather just divide the amount by 12 and start with a zero balance tbh.

This has been implemented with the Monzo-backed Instant Access Savings Pot:

Yep but… You can only have one of those (2 if you include the safety net pot). It doesn’t fix the problem with third party savings accounts.

Why is this marked as Done? Or do we have to start a new suggestion named "Instant withdrawals from third party savings pots?

If they would allow multiple Monzo savings pots I’d accept that. But they don’t.

I know. I’ve voted for that too.
