Many, but Starling’s rate is quite competitive.
Yes Christian, same for me. I did however have a chat with a support team member and was told that this should be possible earl this year…
I have no problem with this. Also, if you do, the way to solve it is to have more people with coral cards, therefore changing the first association someone has with the colour.
I thought you were going to say something about a Netherlands football rivalry.
This is why you’ll find a lot of people holding multiple accounts, with different accounts for different purposes
Same way I have a Nationwide account purely for the first year of 5% interest on their CA.
Really? Who actually cares? ![]()
Pots aren’t sophisticated enough yet. I currently have two separate current accounts (one for bills, one for day-to-day spending) and several savings accounts. That used to all be at Metro Bank. The only thing I have moved to Monzo is my day-to-day spending. Until pots can replicate my multiple accounts, I won’t be able to move over.
Or, even better, if Monzo starts letting us have multiple linked accounts.
The paying in cash thing is a unfunny joke that continues to be less funny the longer they leave it.
Just as a counterpoint for you, I have never in the last 20 years paid cash into a bank account, and don’t anticipate ever doing so in future.
I actually realised when this last came up I haven’t paid cash into a bank since I was 18… and I’m… older than 18 (by quite a lot).
I have been with my bank for years and very happy with them. I got my monzo card when it was prepaid card purely for use as a firewall account for online banking. It also meant i could give the cards to the kids to order pizza etc knowing they or hackers couldn’t drain nun main account.
Had not thought about statements but it’s a good point. Until we have true digital ID a bank statement is v useful.
Fair enough, Your counter argument is noted.
I have a Santander 123 and would lose out a bit as I get interest on my current account balance and cash back on utilities. Also some good cash back when spending with certain retailers.
Costco Petrol Station only accepts Debit cards but won’t accept my Monzo CA card which is another reason why I need another current account.
Love Using Monzo abroad but am fearful over time benefits given will be taken away as we started to see with limits on cash withdrawals.
I love Apple Pay but this will come so not a reason to hold back from Switching.
Reports on here are that this is fixed (also worth noting they do accept credit and charge cards, but only American Express network cards).
Thanks - I’ll try it out next time
I have a First Direct account, haven’t yet moved over all the DD’s and standing orders, the only thing that’s stopping me is laziness, had there been a switching service I would use it. So I plan to do it it bit by bit as DD’s are renewed.
I’m a self employed bookkeeper, so I also have another business bank account, I doubt I would ever totally switch to Monzo, until they offer business banking and bank feeds for accounts software - although I do note you can download statements as qif files.
As a bookkeeper I adore my Monzo personal account, I never used to track my spending, just top up my personal account from my business account every time it started running low and wonder where all the money went.
As far as comments go on International payments, I don’t understand why people don’t use TransferWise.
because the payments must arrive from my name… Its highly unprofessional to have a 3rd party payment processor for certain credits… For some financial transactions it has to be from my named bank account.
I use transferwise a lot, for my own personal shuffling between Fx… But no way I could rely on it for my primary banking exclusively.
right… I am Barclays Premier… I can do 50k per transaction online… More with a single verbal call instruction to my relationship manager and AFAIK unlimited with a series of code words I have set up from the days of fax instructions. I think 7 digit money has been done on those.
Monzo isnt shopping for that kind of business I feel, however a monzo premier (priority support, higher limits, interest bearing savings accounts, perks given based on spending or balance accounts) are not hard to imagine. Its just not the current focus.
I just feel the entire experience is geared to the daily spending, manage your overdraft, save your change, current account… As opposed to a manage your assets, achieve the best rewards / returns, priority support and customer relationship that HNW banking is.
I would very much like to see Monzo evolve into a fusion of the two… As it is I kind of keep Monzo for what monzos good for and realize theres elements where it simply isnt trying to achieve.
I am not actively embarrassed… But yet its a bit mickey mouse for me…
Royal blue with a hot coral ‘seam’ was my vote back then but there are situations where the novelty factor of it is a negative.
Have you looked at Transferwise Borderless?
I am using borderless… But even then the outbound shows transferwise limited (I think, thats how it appears on my statements) and a code… Not ‘me’ as the sender…
Sure it gives you an inbound IBAN or Sort Code combo (dont get me started on the USD failure to accept from non US banks not mentioned in app and making 30k go missing for a week)… But for outbound it says transferwise LTD, unless I was doing something wrong.
