Digging up this thread to ask has everyone who tried managed to get their free £250? I got an email today to say I’ve met all the criteria and they are going to pay it out in 7 days.

Now, where is CASS Monzo
I did get it today.
got mine too!
so has the switching “fee” convinced anybody to stay with them having taken all the trouble to switch everything over or have you just taken the offer with no intention of staying ?
The only thing it has convinced me of, is that I’ll look for another account to switch to. I’ll get rich!
I got mine today too!
I’ll keep the account for now, mainly since I’m expecting to receive a cheque soon and it’s the only account I have currently with cheque imaging for paying in. However the number of times I’ve logged in and haven’t been able to view any of my transactions is not convincing me it’ll be an account I use regularly…
Yep, email and payment came today.
Been a useful second account to Monzo. Cheque imaging and payments via post office for cash has been helpful.
Provided you meet their criteria, the T&Cs says they’ll pay out within 70 days of you opening the account, therefore my bribe is due within the next 7 or 8 days.
The B app is ok but not brilliant. The cheque-imaging is useful for the once a year I receive a cheque. Neither is compelling enough for me to stay.
Once they’ve paid me, I’ll be using CASS to move either back to First Direct (no bribe) or another Bank with a good bribe.
I haven’t actually had any problems with B, but there app is fairly poorly made. Not crap, but there’s a few bugs or weird UI glitches. I doubt I’ll switch based on this just yet.
Can’t wait to unlock my monzo and see what you’ve got going here.
really I was only commenting on offering inducements to swap accounts, which looks like they are only an incentive until the dosh is received into the account, unless its compelling to stay with the account offering the inducement, until the better inducement from another provider ???
I had a bit of an argument with CYB earlier when they tried to tell me that I wasn’t eligible for the £250 - even though they admitted that I’d met al the criteria.
They said that I hadn’t switched in time, even though I’d already been accepted for the offer as I showed interest in switching before the offer ended.
Long story short, I’ll be £250 richer soon
Not sure if anybody knows, but Nationwide offer £100 EACH if you recommend a friend to open (& switch to) one of their current accounts. It doesn’t have to be friends and family, the member just fills in a form online, I believe.
There is a sneaky clause in the T&C’s that says they can claim the £100 back if the recommended party closes their account “without good reason” within 3 months.
Yeah I’ll probably stay - out of the high street banks they seem to be the most up-to-date technology wise.
Pending card transactions show in the timeline immediately, they’re one of only a couple of banks with full cheque imaging up and running (to my knowledge), and it looks like they have most of the open banking stuff already baked in to their app ready to go.
They even have budgeting and savings pots.
App can be a bit buggy but hopefully they’ll give it a bit of polish over time.
That’s a joke, right? Their online banking is straight out of the 90s, and the worst I’ve ever used.
Which online banking, the one on the B website or the one on the Yorkshire Bank website?
Yorkshire Bank. I didn’t know B had their own Web interface?
Yeah but it is in Beta - login link is on their website, top right
I need to check it out. Thanks!
I signed up for the £250, and I’m going to stick with them. I switched from an old account I didn’t use at all, and I’ve used the B account quite a bit and been pretty happy with it. Their app isn’t spectacular, but it does feel like a bank app rather than a prepaid app with banking features bolted on as an afterthought. Unlike Monzo/Starling they do have a web app which is a big plus. Also, their pots pay more interest than Starling, and pay non-zero interest unlike Monzo’s.
Their credit card is quite a good deal too, so I’ll probably get one, and getting/managing a credit card tends to be easier when you have a current account with the same bank.
I don’t like taking a switching bribe without any intention of at least evaluating the account, and in this case I quite liked it. If I want another switching bribe, I’ll wait till Monzo supports CASS
I agree with this sentiment.
In fairness I think the B Bank App is actually pretty good. It has pots which give interest, it auto categorises my spend, it does analysis on this for me. It supports Cheque Imaging, Paying in cash at the Post Office. Has Apple Pay Support, IBAN Support. It lacks some of the polish the Monzo App has and doesn’t send notifications but in many ways its better.
