£200

Yea, the £200 for many people.

I did open mine just for the child&co card but I am not saying I would use RBS as a main account. Cash Code is nice though not having to get a card out and put in a pin that I don’t remember.

I switched because of the money, but the app is genuinely very good. Probably my favourite out of them all now.

What, like Monzo and Starling?

The debit cards of Chase and First Direct also use the Mastercard rate when spending foreign currencies without added fees. In case someone doesn’t want to convert before hand and keep in a currency account.

You are. Neither Monzo nor Starling add fees to foreign spending.

Why would I want to? Are you paid in lots of different currencies, or just in GBP?

Still don’t understand why you need a HK bank account for that…? You’re already a Premier customer, so presumably have a USD account?

So the benefit of an account denominated in Hong Kong is…? Now we’ve established that you don’t gain any benefit for “spending in numerous currencies”.

Calm down dear. No hatred. I’m just saying what everyone’s thinking.

You can get a free UK based USD account with HSBC without being Premier, and use HSBC GMA to spend USD without exchanging to/from GBP.

With Premier then you can get HSBC US account.

Still, the HSBC HK card is a nice one to have. The website says it has 0.4% cashback, so that’s a (small) plus.

You can get a Premier Checking account with HSBC USA based on your existing Premier status

You don’t need to use HSBC Expat

Just wanting a fancy card is enough of a reason to open the account. It’s not like he’s the only one from this forum that went for it

I have it also!

Geez this thread has been popcorn. I only keep looking into it to see if there’s some HSBC news or something :joy:

The thing I don’t understand because I’m too lazy to do the research is why not get the global money account if it isn’t just for the nicer card.

I’ve HSBC premier Uk and GMA, would the HK card offer a better option for multi currency spend?

Nicer cards are not exclusive. Want allllllll the cards.

I’m surprised no one here has used one of those instagram pages where you send your card and they metal-ify it with your custom design

Not on this thread, but I think someone did on one of the others.

Loses contactless functionality unless you’ve one of the big chips, though they’re generally only on metal cards these days.
