What irks me is that you can’t really have a “big overhaul” at the same time as a “refreshed design”.
Refreshed to me is tinkering and cleaning it up. Not a radical redesign.
So sadly I fear it’ll be similar to the current with a few improvements. Which for many might be great given the app has relatively positive reviews on here.
I think there’s no point reading too much into the meaning of those words. The thing that makes me feel that it must be at least a bit significant of an update is the fact they are testing it. Why would they need to test the app if it is just a small change?
Refreshed home page with new layout of accounts maybe separated into banking, savings, credit, etc. More importantly it has to look good, like maybe putting bubbles around the accounts or some picture/logo etc
The budgeting needs a MAJOR overhaul - ideally to match starling/monzo style with LIVE updates
The ability to upgrade the account in the app eg to advance or premier
Ability to open and close savings accounts in the app
Ability to invest in other etf’s or funds in the app
Tidy up transaction notifications. And how transactions are displayed in the app.
Overall I don’t think these are actually too difficult to achieve really and quite realistic.
I would be really impressed if they pull it out of the bag with a great new design that actually makes you want to use the app.
Possibly, but unlikely. Kinetic is mozno like in its app first, back end later. Whereas HSBC will very much be legacy first, app later.
I suspect this will not be as revolutionary as people are hoping. I’d imagine an updated landing page which looks slightly nicer and slightly better insights, but who knows.
I’m not expecting something revolutionary, but definitely some sort of substancial update because why would they need to test it with multiple opportunities to join the test over multiple months? Would seem extreme if it’s just some different colours and a new font or something.
Although they have recently rolled out an update I believe. When I opened an account, I couldn’t create the account through the app. However, a few days later, it had a new welcome screen and the ability to create an account from within the app.
I could be wrong and it could have just been an issue with my app stopping me from creating it at first, but if this was indeed am update, this didn’t require testing despite it being more substantial than just a new font.
Next to no demand, I wouldn’t have thought. harrysj is possibly the only person to have ever suggested it. Few people write cheques nowadays, and the number who want to cancel any of those cheques must be minuscule.
It’s worth noting though that the figures do not include cheques paid into the same bank which originally issued them - only where they were deposited into a different one.
