How much would you pay to save a molar tooth 🦷

Who are you with for dental insurance out of interest?

I’m with Denplan. I was on it as a kid and then didn’t immediately take it on as an adult. Bad move!

Always try and keep or replace teeth because where you have no teeth your jawbone weakens. The portion of the jaw bone that anchors the teeth in the mouth, no longer receives the necessary stimulation from chewing and begins to break down, or is resorbed.

I’m having a 3rd Molar (wisdom) removed and one filled. Costed me a fortune

Did it hurt getting it removed?

Sadly the nhs hardly covers anything related to dental now

That one didn’t, plenty of injections

But had to get another out last week. It broke at the start of the first lockdown and they wouldn’t give appointments unless I was in pain or my face was swollen. 3 weeks ago it started hurting and I had to wait 2 weeks for an appointment. They’re still not doing fillings so I told her to take it out. I was only getting 2 hours sleep a night with the pain and I’d had enough. But there was an infection so the injections didn’t work on the nerve. Yeah, I screamed. A lot :joy: But I didn’t pass out, although it was close

So basically if there’s an infection take the antibiotics first, and you’ll not have any problems

I was going to click on the ā€˜like’ heart there, but found it a bit inappropriate. OMG - that sounds horrendous. There is almost nothing worse than continuous toothache and if you are getting to the point of passing out from the pain :scream:

Reminds me of Tom Hanks in a cave on a lonely pacific island with developing tooth decay using one of a pair of ice-skates in an act of desperation to sort it

Antibiotics is a very good shout there.

It was horrendous for 2 minutes and then it was all over. I am so happy to be able to sleep again so it was totally worth it.

Reminds me of Dustin Hoffman and his oil of clove, after his difficult meeting with Laurence Olivier.

Is it safe?

I can like that post without any guilty feelings.

Glad you got it fixed that’s how I am atm unable to sleep and eat because of it so got a feeling I might need both wisdom out + a filling.

Nothing worse than toothache, it actually makes me cry

That’s probably the only painful part, at least for me

Personally id go for extraction if its a tooth at the back you’re not going to miss it . Once it’s out no more costs done and dusted x

I’ve had 3 root canals and crowns. All cost about Ā£200 each on NHS. I think it’s about Ā£283 now but I’d never pay higher than the NHS Band 3 treatment on a non-visible tooth.
