I agree that it would be helpful to have it visually represented on a map, but I don’t really understand why specifically a heat map when a map with dropped pins/tags would be more helpful in my opinion since you could then select specific transactions.

A heat map gives me a quick glance showing expenditure. Pins are just where I’ve made a transaction. I could make 100 transactions in my home town but spend less than the 25 transactions I make near work. Or vice versa. The heat map, as I see it, shows me not just the amount but the value.
