Google Stadia šŸŽ®

No i donā€™t have sky tv or q minis just devices with netflix, kodi etc. I can test chromecast via ethernet but its not something i can really do long term because of where the hub is etc

Tested mine out last night and apart from the odd stutter I donā€™t think it is that bad but I would say that anything less than 30mb internet line then not to bother and stick with a proper console. When all hell breaks loose on screen (Destiny 2) it seems to struggle with a 70mb connection but then I would expect this to get better the more they tweet the background services.

I have Google WiFi setup and it allows you to prioritise devices on the network for a set timeframe which is really handy now, never used in the past.

P.S. JamesWheatley is my Stadia name (original I know)

2 years, time flies! Will have to treat myself to a real :cake: at lunch

I got it (eventually), and Iā€™m really liking it. So much so that I done the unthinkable and splashed Ā£50 on Red Dead Redemption 2. Stadia is shaping up like I hoped, and I look forward to xCloud and Amazonā€™s offering in 2020!

I was on the xcloud betaā€¦ it was running at slideshow rates and really laggy and when I checked it had taken over 50Mbps to achieve thatā€¦ apparently theyā€™re barely using any compression at all. Hopefully an early beta issueā€¦

thatā€™s strange, Iā€™m using xCloud and canā€™t say the same!

Are you streaming from the cloud or your home console?

The cloudā€¦ the home console one is a different beta.

The moment I fired up xcloud the bandwidth shot to maximum and stayed there, saturating the line so hard I started gettitng packet loss. That was 1080p on a 5 inch phone display (it isnā€™t compatible with any of my other devices). I can stream UHD netflix on a fraction of that so theyā€™re not apparently doing any compression on it.

I might have another go in the new year, it may be something theyā€™re working onā€¦ if they were to release with that kind of bandwidth requirement that might fly in the US but probably not here.

Itā€™s strange that we have such conflicting experiences. Iā€™ve been playing on around 30mb download and 9mb upload over WIFI on a Huawei Mate 10. Iā€™ve had the occasional stuttering every once in a while but not anything bad. Itā€™s been enjoyable.

Streaming from Console however is a bit different. Higher input lag, doesnā€™t work as well for me on the same network.

Only issues iā€™ve faced is input lag and the big one being a 2ghz WiFi network. I canā€™t play on a 2ghz network at all!

Iā€™m not sure itā€™s a different beta. I havenā€™t got he phone on me to check, but i switched to console streaming through a setting in the app. I didnā€™t realise the option was there myself for a few days.

Apparently you need to install a special app on the console and Iā€™m not in that beta, so it wonā€™t connect. Itā€™d probably work better as itā€™s not going to seattle and backā€¦

Well I can say that i havenā€™t installed anything on my console. It does have issues connecting occasionally and I have to try multiple times but I definitely 100% have not downloaded anything, I also removed myself from the beta programme for Xbox because an update bricked my console once, I get limited time to play nowadays so wanted to reduce the amount of things that could stop me from playing.

Good Luck when you try it again, when it works, itā€™s great.

Wierdā€¦ from the reviewsā€¦ ā€œYou have to go to the Xbox Insider hub on your Xbox console and then go to the tab that says ā€œInsider contentā€ and then make sure that you have joined both the Xbox Insider program and the Xbox One update previewā€ Since Iā€™m not a member of either of those I donā€™t have those tabs.

Edit: Yeah pressing ā€˜switch to console streamingā€™ just sends me to an application form, so it looks like you lucked out and are in both betas.

From what I have seen of the reviews the PC master race will be around for a long time yet

Iā€™ve had Stadia since launch day itā€™s a decent platform to be fair and works flawlessly for me, game catalogue is growing week on week still needs improvement but other than that Iā€™m really impressed with it. Iā€™ve personally not bought any games yet as Iā€™m happy with the free ones I get as part of the subscription.

Same here. Iā€™ve noticed that it seems to be gaining overall speed (less lag) as time goes by.
Planning to buy big/good titles when available (Cyberpunk 2077) in a few months.

Also looking forward to wireless stadia controller connection to PC/Pixel phone :video_game:

I just want to be able to play Stadia on my Samsung phone :joy:

Iā€™d guess this is a huge priority, delayed due to a cautious roll-out to ensure server stability. Going off the sheer number of ā€˜Samsungā€™ phones out there, the demand on the Stadia servers could be huge;

Still enjoying it. Playing RDR2 on it, and finished the ā€˜freeā€™ game Rise of the Tomb Raider.

They need to add mores support for tablets and phone and also add some more games.

All that will come with time. Although Iā€™m a bit miffed Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed by quite a bit - hopefully itā€™ll be out before Xmas this year.

Iā€™d like to see Fortnite running on Stadia too, but there may be technical issues there. Plus Epic leapfrogged the Play Store so El Goog may not be that friendly towards Epic.

Stadia has it in terms of playability though. Destiny 2 is spectacular considering there is no local box running it!
