so lucky
I’ve waited years for this
Would be great. Love FD but this is one of the things keeping me with their bigger brother.
Both inbound payment and withdrawal notifications worked fine today.
Am I right in saying cash withdrawals are treated immediately in terms of available and account balances?
As it’s adjusted already, just want to confirm or has available been moved to Home Screen now?
So that’s
- one CS rep didn’t know they existed
- one CS rep said they’re disabled
- despite both of the above they’re being received
I know deposits are immediate so I would imagine withdrawals are too.
Deposits would be as there’s not really any processing for those.
I think it’s right they clear immediately instead of pending like a debit card payment.
Yup. I was also told previously (posted above somewhere) that I would get notifications when my profile was switched to the new digital secure pin. From comments here at the time, that too seemed to be nonsense advice.
Not a big deal to me in the grand scheme of things, but it’s certainly messy.
The two aren’t related because my PIN setup came a bit after notifications, not long.
Are your device notifications on in Apple settings?
This only works for current account I think, not credit card and not sure about savings.
Yeah, what they told me was nonsense and not sure why they said this.
No option for enabling notifications on my iOS app. Tried reinstalling too before I called yesterday. Usually very impressed with FD CS, and still am, but was strange to be told what I’m asking for isn’t even a feature then having to convince them it was .
I thought I was imagining things! Does this mean we aren’t getting push notifications anymore? A little disappointing. I hope it’s only temporary. I didn’t get any transaction notifications today on iOS
My iOS notifications are fine, the option to adjust them in the app disappeared on iOS.
But they still work so they’re imprinted into the app, and you control by iOS settings not in the fd app.
I can confirm notifications are not available for me on iOS and customer care says an issue was identified and a fix is coming (it’s been two weeks).
I guess First Direct is an example why the wisdom of the crowd is bunk. There is a very sticky hype around this bank but in reality it has an app stuck in 2015 and customer service is not that different to NatWest or Lloyds which have had instant notifications for years now - and they work mostly fine.
They’re working for me currently still, had them all come through today. I lost the settings to configure them in the app about a day after it was first introduced though.
Must be account level as mine are fine.
Faster payment in and debit card payment out.
iOS 17.4 beta, latest fd app.
Had some come through quite delayed today, for outgoing transfers I’d made myself in the app (not sure I really need those, or if other banks send them for transfers you make).
Monzo does, revolut sends you an email too which you can’t switch off
This is what, annoying, HSBC does so I’d suspect FD are just borrowing off that. If I transfer, for example, from savings to current I’ll get two notifications.
Which seems dumb really.
Yeah, I guess it’s still for security in case it was done from another device, but if someone had access to your device to make an unauthorised transfer the notification won’t do much at that point. I guess I figured it would detect it was made on the same device but thinking about it I don’t think they can tell.
