Emma Feedback Thread / Q&A

Nope.

More dumb Emma behaviour. The app is doing surprisingly well at getting on my nerves with its non-intelligent use of my data, and not much else.

Firstly there’s the ‘checklist’ on the home screen, which I can’t get rid of.

I don’t want to switch broadband. I don’t want to combine my pensions. I don’t want to invest using Nutmeg, and Emma can see I already use Moneybox. I’m assuming it recommends Nutmeg, not through careful analysis of cost/benefit to me personally, but because Nutmeg is the provider which Emma has partnered with, for cash money purposes.

Then there’s switching energy. Emma can see that the direct debit to Tonik I’ve had for a year recently changed to Octopus. Presumably Emma can work out from my monthly bills that I pay significantly less than the average home.

But it seems not content with presenting me some idiotic checklist I don’t want to use, Emma feels it needs to now hector me elsewhere in my feed.

Of course I have switched. The app knows I have. In the last month.

Remember the days (as featured in this very thread) when the Emma apologist promised its particular brand of Open Banking would deliver massively personalised recommendations and unique money-saving opportunities?

Now it just feels like I’m getting the electronic version of Royal Mail shoving envelopes of junk mail through my letterbox every day from ‘carefully selected’ (read: companies who paid it) ‘partners’.

I don’t disagree. But perhaps post in Emma’s community? Likely to get more engagement there.

Why? It’ll be seen here fine. This is one of the more engaging and balanced threads on this community, and I’m not signed up to Emma’s.

I think this thread has dried up quite a lot since Emma launched its own community. Suspect it’s only monitored by one person from Emma.

It’s got the most annoying interface I’ve ever used, I deleted my account within 30 mins. I’ve just decided I don’t need any kind of app like that in my life as they all nag about something and don’t allow me to ditch whatever nag they are peddling that week / month

What would you recommend instead? I mean, what aggregator do you prefer?

Have you turned off any of the notifications? I turned off quite a few things.

They are on the homepage feed of the app, and are not optional.

Oh, I thought you meant they were popping up on your phone all the time, which would definitely be too much! :joy:

The feed really needs some TLC, I think. I spend most of my time in analytics and accounts, which are very lean.

Notifications are optional - there is a Settings panel in More.

MoneyDashboard and Excel. :joy:

Yeah, but we wouldn’t reply to insults either here or there, so doesn’t really matter.

Thanks for sorting this out Emma!

No biggie.

I might be a bit nostalgic, but if it wasn’t for this thread, Emma would have never existed!

We have now raised $3million - when this was started, it was £0, have about 10 employees and growing across US, CA and UK.

If you haven’t tried it yet: http://emma.to/edoardomoreni

It’s great to see after your successes that you still find time to interact with the community here. Awesome that Emma is doing so well.

Ah! Didn’t know about that, I can remove it.

Can you elaborate, Emma was around before this thread was created

Not really, we launched a couple of months after the thread.
